Eagle Modular Spill Containment Platform with Drain — 30-Gallon Sump Capacity, 2 Drum, Yellow, Model# 1632D

Good afternoon. Unfortunately we do not have a drain install kit for spill containment pallets with out drains. We do have spill containment platforms with drains like model 1632D.

Eagle's 1632 30 gallon modular spill containment platform would not satisfy the EPA spill containment requirements for a 55 gallon drum.

40 CFR § 264.175(b)(3) states the following:
"The containment system must have sufficient capacity to contain 10% of the volume of containers or the volume of the largest container, whichever is greater. Containers that do not contain free liquids need not be considered in this determination"

In order for this clause to be satisfied for a 55 gallon drum the spill containment platform would need to have a sump capacity of at least 55 gallons.

40 CFR § 112.8(c)(2) contains the requirements for a facility to have and maintain a spill prevention, control and countermeasure (SPCC) plan. This clauses states that there must be sump capacity to contain the entire volume of the container, plus volume for rainwater if storage is uncovered and outside. In the case of a 55 gallon drum the 1632 would not meet this clause.

Eagle modular spill pallets can be a part of a facilities SPCC plan to contain any spill and meet regulatory requirements. For 55 gallon drums, to meet these requirements I would recommend an Eagle 1620 2 Drum Spill Pallet. This spill pallet features a 66 gallon sump capacity to satisfy spill containment requirements for 55 gallon drums and potential rainwater. The 1620 is also equipped with forklift pockets to easily move the pallet around a facility and a drain for easy clean up in case of a spill.
