  1. Does the bit length matter?

    Does it sharpen any length bit? Like a 6 inch long 1/2 inch bit? Or does it have a length limit?

    1. Length doesn't matter. As long as it can be clamped in the holder, it can be sharpened. It has no maximum length.

    2. The length doesn't matter. I used it on a 16" long 1/2" bit.

    3. It will sharpen any length bit. However, it will only sharpen up to 1/2" diameter.

    4. I have sharpened bits up to 24" long with no problem. If the bit is within the Dia. restrictions of the holder (3/32-1/2") you should have no problems.

    6. yes, it will sharpen just about any length. probably the max drill size would be 1/2 inch. just take your time and it will do a great job.

    7. Don't believe length matters, as the mandrel (bit holder) is open ended and you set up on the flutes

    8. Should pose no problem as the entry for the bit is always open. Just insert, set depth, lock down, and sharpen.

  4. Life of sharpening wheels

    How many bits will this usually sharpen before i have to change the sharpening wheel?

    1. it depends on the size of bits I have sharpen over 600
      3/8 down to 1/8 and the wheel is still good

    2. I bought an extra wheel with mine and the first one out last the machine. It sharpened a little over 4000 drill bits

    3. By reversing the sharpening wheel to double its life you should be able to sharpen 3/32 to 1/2 size bits approximately 200 times.

    What are the angle of most new bits and why is the DD changing the angle to 118 degrees? Is it better or longer lasting?

    1. The 118 degree is the most common drill angle and used for drilling soft materials like wood.

    I see that the sharpener will change the angle from 135 to 118 which could be acceptable if it sharpens the cobalt bit?
