  2. If the distance between the back of the dryer and the outlet for the exit of dryer air exhaust is shorter than 8 feet, can this item be used to vent with less distance between ends? How short can it be squished together?

    1. The Deflecto Semi-Rigid Dryer Vent Hookup Kit (8ft) can indeed be used for shorter distances. The semi-rigid duct can be compressed to fit shorter lengths, though the exact minimum length isn't specified. Typically, semi-rigid ducts can be compressed to about half their extended length, so you should be able to reduce it to around 4 feet.
