Like a hitch pin and clip, a hitch lock is designed to insert into the fastener hole in the side of a receiver tube in order to hold a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory in place. The CURT 5/8in. hitch lock allows you to lock your ball mount into your trailer hitch, deterring theft and preventing anyone from detaching your trailer at the ball mount and towing away your property without your permission. This CURT hitch lock features a barbell design and comes with a 5/8in. pin diameter to fit a 2in., 2 1/2in. or 3in. receiver tube size. The CURT barbell hitch lock is comprised of a pin with two end caps and a round locking mechanism. It is key-operated and activates with a simple 1/4-turn. Also comes with a watertight dust cap to keep out the elements and prevent corrosion. Lifetime limited warranty.

  2. What is the weight capability on this

    1. This Curt hitch lock does not have a listed weight capability. Most hitch pins don't come with weight ratings because they don't bear the full weight of the accessory. If you are towing a trailer for example, then you would be using a ball mount and the tongue weight from the trailer would then pin the ball mount to the inside of the trailer hitch which takes the stress off the hitch pin. That said, the shear strength of any given hitch pin would far exceed the rating of the trailer in likely every scenario which when combined with the above is why specific weight ratings are not provided as it is just additional testing that is simply not needed.
