We use this pump exclusively with the Briggs & Stratton 10 hp 305cc engines in a horizontal application, and it works great! We use the 2.8 gallon reservoir from Northerntool as well.

pump rotation options
Hello i have a Tecumseh 13 hp motor which the documentation shows as counter clockwise rotational. all of these pumps show clockwise. is this pump usable ccw?
-
bluedakotasky· 15 years ago
If the engine is turning CCW looking at the output shaft or PTO end, it will be turning a pump CW, looking at the drive shaft end of the pump.

CalvinM· 15 years ago
If the Pump and engine are mounted shaft to shaft, straight across from each other the rotation will match.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert10· 16 years ago
This pump is typically used for log splitters and the rotation is clockwise only.

-
timbuck2· 12 years ago
the amount of oil in the reservoir is the same for both stages the pump builds more pressure in the second stage the gpm is the same or less.

gravity feed or can my tank be below the pump
i am building a homeade splitter i have this pump already my hydraulic tank is a foot below the pump with this pump pull the fluid to it or do i need to do some re fabrication
-
wizard357· 13 years ago
Shouldn't be an issue. My pump is 10 inches and four feet from the pump and it pulls the fluid just fine.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert6· 14 years ago
The pump is capable of pulling the fluid up but would put a lot undue stress on the pump and could shorten the life of the pump. If you you get the tank up it would be better.

There is no decibel rating listed for this pump. Any rating as such would depend on the motor the unit is attached to.

What size micron filter to use on log-splitter (open center sys)?
What size micron filter to use on log-splitter (open center sys)? 10 or 25 micron?
-
wizard357· 13 years ago
I've been using a 10 micron filter without any problems; 25 micron is probably overkill

-
ProductExpert6· 15 years ago
The 10 micron filter item #778647 would be fine with this pump.

I have a log splitter with a 12.5 hp Briggs and stration moter what 2 stage pump would you recomend
-
bluedakotasky· 15 years ago
We use the Haldex 1056 2-stage pump with Briggs & Stratton 10 hp engines and have no problems. The pump flows 16 gpm which works just fine for most log splitters.

ProductExpert10· 15 years ago
Not knowing anything other than the horsepower rating, such as the cylinder size, I would suggest the 22 gpm pump. That size of pump will allow you to take full advantage of the horsepower.

will a 6 hp engine run this pump on a log splitter
splitter has a 4' x 24' cylinder
-
GHWW· 15 years ago
The pump need's 8 hp to run efficiently. I have seen one run with a 6hp and it Bogs the engine and dose not produce the power and gpm the pump is rated for. You will not be happy running this with less than the min hp recommended.

ProductExpert19· 16 years ago
No, a minimum of an 8 hp engine is required for this pump. Item# 1053 would work with a 6 hp engine. Please see below:

What do we use to couple to the 1" inlet? We're afraid of getting air in the lines.
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 4 months ago
When pairing the hydraulic pump to an engine you would us the 1" coupling, item #115030 for the pump side and then the other half would be for the shaft on the engines side and size. You would then need an insert to connect the two halves. Currently, we do not carry the insert.
