    I'm looking to install four fans in my barn ceiling and want to use one variable speed control for all fans wired in a row...is this possible?

    3. This speed control has to be used on a fan that has forward and reverse. You would need 4 wires plus ground to hook up to the fan.

  3. Can this control more than 4 fans if it's under 5 AMPS? Outdoor placement ok?

    If I have 5 of the Canarm Model# CP60HPWP which use .83 amps, can this control 5 fans since the total would only be 4.15 amps? The description says it has a 5 amp limit.

    Also, can this be used outside under a cover so it is only exposed to warm temperatures and humidity?

    1. This speed control is designed to work with a maximum of 4 fans and should be mounted in a dry location. We do offer a similar speed control that can work with up to 8 fans; however, it does not have a reverse option. The part number is MSMC-10 and it can be purchased by calling our parts department at 1.800.657.0516.

  4. What are the required wire sizes?

    The speed control manual shows four wires going from the controller to the fan(s). Do all the wired need to be 12 gauge (for a 20 amp circuit) or are any of them just signal wires that can be smaller?

    1. The gauge of wire will depend on your local codes.

    1. The colors of the wires on the back of this control are black, white, yellow, blue, and red. These only match up to the Canarm fans. It has one wire for power in and the other 4 are for power out that match up to the Canarm fan.

  6. Will this speed control work with other fan brands?

    Will the reverse function on this speed control work with the JDI CF60 reversible fan? The CF60 has a manual reverse switch on the fan unit. I want to control the blade direction at the speed control unit, rather than the manual switch on the fan.
