Product Summary

The Groundskeeper Walk Behind Broadcast Spreader makes it easy to spread fertilizer, grass seed, salt or ice melt. With an adjustable spread range up to 24ft. and a 100 lbs. capacity, it's ideal for homeowners, property managers, and college campuses looking for an efficient way to spread material year-round. You can spread material across large areas without needing to stop and reload. Designed for all-season use, the manual spreader's 1.67 cubic foot hopper is made of a durable polymer that won't rust or dent. The enclosed gearbox features commercial grade alloy gears and an integrated grease fitting to protect the spreader's moving parts from the elements. The fully welded frame is carbon steel with a corrosion resistant black powder-coated finish. 13in. pneumatic tires can trudge through snow and over uneven terrain. A fixed rear deflector and three adjustable side deflectors allow you to calibrate the spread to your needs. Material flow is controlled with a simple lever for ease of use, and the spinner is powered by the movement of the axle for a low maintenance and reliable spread. Please ensure the set screw that attaches the hopper to the spinner is tightly secured for optimal material control. The push spreader comes with a convenient hopper screen and a nylon rain cover to keep your material dry all year round.

    1. Yes they spin just fine on ice. I have used 3 winters and spread thousands of pounds of salt with no issue of wheels turning on ice.

    2. You can adjust the amount that comes out of the hopper, so I would think you could spread sand with it. The wheels are rubber and have, so far, worked out very well for spreading salt on ice.

    3. The unit is designed to spread salt and would not be compatible with sand. The spreader is to be used with a normal walking pace and the wheels will work fine with most icy surfaces.

  2. Is there an agitator in the hopper?

    I am considering buying this spreader to spread lawn fertilizer and seed. I am concerned if it doesn't have an agitator it might not work well.

    1. I use this at an industrial level and have spread thousands of pound of salt at my plant and never had feed issues with our salt. When the salt level gets below the grate, I simply bounce it once to work it all toward the bottom and it continues to feed until empty.

    2. The spreader does not come with an agitator. The spreader is designed to be operated at a brisk walking pace (approx. 3mph). Walking slower or faster will alter the distribution pattern & amount of the material, as will the moisture content of the material & other environmental factors.

  4. What is the least amount of broadcast? We want to target just the wheel tracks in our long driveway? Thank you

    1. The broadcast width can be narrowed down to 6". This can be achieved by adjusting the deflector panels.
