Not well at all in my experience for the first earth disturbance in years. I had to hire a tractor with a tiller the first time. Since then, I've been able to work it OK.

Thank you for your question. Our disc harrow is designed to be used on soil which has been plowed, and is preferably soft. It is not designed to function well on hard clay.

Hi Rinb,
Yes this unit would work. You just wanted to make sure that you have a sleeve hitch to raise and lower this attachment and the tractor should be at least 19 hp.

Thank you for your question. As with all of our ground engaging equipment, the DD-55BH can be pulled behind a riding mower with a sleeve hitch. We recommend that your mower have at least a 19 horsepower engine.

Will this work with a 4-wheeler and what type of hitch would I use?

bubbasouth· 14 years ago
Yes, a 4-wheeler can pull it if you use the right hitch attachment. For your protection, I suggest you get an extension bar to bolt to the disc part to add 12-14 inches between your tool and what ever pulls it. You can use a flat bar and drill holes to attach to the disc connecting piece supplied, and build or bolt a modification to your hitch shelf that would allow a big bolt "drop-in" with locking nut. Watch every turn to see that the disc does not "ride up" on the rear tires during turns. How tight your turns can be will depend on the length of the extension bar you choose to add on. You may consider getting another Brinly-Hardy disk like several other reviewers have stated.

It could be pulled behind a 4 wheeler. You would need to have a sleeve hitch installed on your 4 wheeler. These can be purchased from your local tractor supply company.

What exactly is a sleeve hitch? Do I have to buy one or can I rig something up to make this work behind my ATV or lawn mower?
-
ProductExpert23· 12 years ago
A sleeve hitch mounts equipment onto the front or back of a tractor and is especially helpful when hauling extra equipment on your tractor. A sleeve hitch is specific to the make and model of your ATV or garden tractor. Please contact your local garden tractor or ATV dealer for pricing and availability of the sleeve hitch.

A sleeve hitch is an attachment for your lawn or garden tractor which allows you to raise and lower ground engaging equipment such as a plow, disc harrow, cultivator, and grading blade. They can be operated manually by way of a long handle, or you can purchase one which uses hydraulics. A sleeve hitch can be purchased from the manufacturer of your lawn tractor. There are sleeve hitches available for ATVs, but they are not as common. Consult your ATV's manufacturer for further information.

Can this be raised with the sleeve hitch and be transported with the additional weights on it?
-
Madhater52· 14 years ago
Depending on how much weight it is. How far your going. I usse 2 solid cement blocks. I would not do it with them.

As long as the sleeve hitch is capable of raising the total weight of the implement and the additional weights, the disk harrow and weights can be lifted for transportation.

Can this be pulled effectively with an ATV
-
love2fly· 12 years ago
Yes it can be pulled by an ATV but you'll need a way to get it where you want to disk the ground. You don't want to pull this down your driveway to get where you want to disc up as it will scar your driveway (it is heavy even without added weight). I added a set of homemade wheels that I flip down to transport behind my lawn tractor.
