Do these replace the dust cap for the axle nut on an RV? And do they just knock in to replace the cap on an RV?

Yes they replace the dust cap, It takes a bit of force to tap "hammer" them in, I use a wood or leather faced mallet. If you must use a metal hammer place a piect of wood over the bearing buddy and strike the wood with the hammer. Pay attention to keeping the bearing buddy aligned with the hub as you install it. If you get it cocked it will not go in.

The Bearing Buddy is designed to replace the dust cap on trailer axle hubs. The most frequent use is for boat trailers because they are repeatedly submerged in water. But they can be used on a variety of other trailer axles, just match the size of the Bearing Buddy to the size of the existing dust cap. Instalation instructions are posted at the following link. http://www.bearingbuddy.com/installation.html

It is important that you select the correct size, the best way is to remove the dust cap and if you have access to a caliber measure the inside diameter of the hub where the dust cap goes. If you don't have the use of a caliper you can use a steel scale graduated to 1/100 inch or 1/64 inch (you will need to convert fractions to decimals) and take at least 3 measurements across the dust cap (avoid taking a reading in an area that is deformed). Average the three readings and they should be close enough to select the correct size.

Measure the inside diameter of the hub or the outside diameter of the dust cap shoulder (the part that fits into the hub) with a caliper or micrometer. The measurement needs to be in thousandths of inches. Most auto parts stores and service stations have a caliper or micrometer and will gladly measure your dust cap for you.
