  1. how heavy a piece of metal will it pick up

    also how does load release work

    1. Any size nail. We just demolished s pole barn.
      It handled up to 40 D nails and a few large flat
      pieces.
      Release works well, however they recommend
      taking off very large pieces by hand first. I had
      no problem with it.

  2. can this magnet be mounted on an atv?

    How far off the ground does it have to hang to be effective? Also would it be beneficial to have one with wheels for atv use?

    1. These magnets can be mounted to an ATV as long as you have a way to secure it. Northern Tool does not sell any ATV mounting kits for these products. The RL-36 and RDS-36LR models would need to be mounted using either the eye bolts or fork pockets. The R36W model only has eye bolts for mounting. The RL-36 and R36W models need to hang 1" to 3" off the ground to be effective. The RDS-36LR model can hang between 1" to 5" off the ground to be effective. The wheels are not necessary for ATV use but would prove to be effective on hard, flat surfaces.
