This ALC Steel Grit Abrasive Blast Media will quickly strip many types of surface contaminants from steel and other foundry metals. Steel grit is softer than aluminum oxide and does not fracture as easily, making it ideal for aircraft and aerospace applications. It is also comparable in price to most other specialty abrasives. Steel grit is becoming very popular because it leaves a very smooth finish. It should be used in a blast cabinets as it can be recycled. Best uses: cleaning cast iron, steel, stainless steel, removing chrome, powder coating, surface preparation, rust removal. For fast, hard cutting. U.S.A.

    I live in the humid south. Blast cabinet in garage. I leave media in the cabinet for years typically for occasional use. Is this steel grit going to turn in to 25lbs of rust in my blast cabinet?

    1. If the media is contaminated with any kind of moisture, it will rust.

  7. How the determine when to change media

    What are the best indicators that it's time to swap out the media for a new batch (of the same type)? Excessive dust? Taking longer to strip?

    1. For the most efficient performance, when the abrasive in the machine has broken down too much, the entire load should be replaced.
