The 2x4 Basics AnySize Bench/Chair Kit lets you build a piece of outdoor furniture that is tailored to your needs. Just add 2 x 4s to make a very sturdy bench, loveseat or chair any length up to 6ft.

Easy to Build

Your chair or bench comes together with simple assembly that requires only a powered screwdriver and a saw. Don't worry about making angled cuts as only straight, 90° cuts are required. All hardware is included.

Comfort and Convenience

The 2x4 Basics AnySize Bench/Chair has a surprisingly comfortable ergonomic design, in both chair and bench form. Each piece includes an integrated cup holder.

  1. Is there a weight limit for these benches?

    Would they be ok to let outside all winter long?

    1. will hold up to and over 300 lbs. and if using treated lumber will be perfectly fine to leave outside. I used water proofing on my benches and chairs too.

    2. Certainly. Type of wood used would determine weathering of the end product

    3. I built mine last year and left outside at hunting camp, holding up very well. Use pressure treated lumber.

    4. Mine will sit outside year round, in Wisconsin. The plastic (I'd be more concerned about the summer sun affecting the plastic than winter weather) is impervious to weather and the Cedar boards will last many years in any weather.

  2. Can you substitute 2"x 4" for 2" X 8" boards?

    1. No. The plastic is ridged so 2 x 4's only can be used

    3. 2 x 8 boards will not fit into slots. I haven't had any trouble with 2 x 4's. Grown men have used them and held up very good.

  3. The color of the product in the photo appears gray, but the description says 'sand'. Which is it? Also, can it take paint? Thanx.

    1. 'Sand' would be the best description. As to painting, I would think they could be painted utilizing the correct paint product for the frame material. I did not paint mine.

    3. A couple nationally known paint manufactures make paint designed for plastic. Just do a search for "paint for plastic".

    1. These end frames are not designed for a continuous bench longer than six feet.

  6. Has anyone tried using polywood or composite wood with this kit?

    1. No, it has notches for the 2 x 4's . They work great, I used treated ones, lasted over 6 years.

    2. The manufacturer does not recommend using this type of lumber for their products, although some types of synthetic lumber may work for your application. Please be sure that your lumber choice is strong enough for the span and that you use appropriate fasteners. This may also void your warranty.

    1. This bench/chair kit includes the all-weather frames, hardware kit and a set of instructions. The lumber is not inculuded. You will need to assemble the frames to 2 x 4's with the included hardware.

  9. Can this be bolted to a dock with a fiberglass flow through grid. Are there holes in the legs or can holes be drilled?

    1. The legs do not have any holes in them. You could drill holes to mount it to the dock. It is made of a poly resin, you would want to be careful not to damage the legs.
