Optimize the Cleaning Power of your Floor Scrubber

Scrubbing a dirty floor with a high-powered floor scrubber is an effective way to minimize the time you spend cleaning a large interior floor or outdoor pavement. Most of us would agree that it beats getting down on your hands and knees and scrubbing with a handheld brush, or dipping a mop in a bucket, scrubbing hard with all your might and repeating until you’re exhausted. When you’re tackling a large space, sometimes a scrubbing machine is the only way to go. Especially if it’s a greasy floor in a factory, gas station or garage; a parking facility; driveway; patio; pool deck or other area prone to continuous spills and other soilage.

Clear Your Space of Obstacles

Power Floor Scrubber

Often overlooked is the value of planning and preparing for the use of your floor scrubber, yet that’s one of the best ways to optimize its cleaning power. It’s important to sweep, clear away large debris and remove any furniture, tools, rugs or other objects that will prevent you from navigating a floor with your scrubber. Whether or not your scrubber is battery operated, clearing the floor space before scrubbing is critical. Doing so will not only allow you to scrub quickly and easily, but also, if your scrubber is battery operated, you won’t waste charge while you’re doing prep work. Once your scrubber is charged, it’s best get right down to the business of scrubbing. Even if your floor scrubber is a plug-in unit, you still want to be able to clean up a dirty surface with as few obstacles as possible.

Repair Frayed or Split Cords or Leaking Hoses

Another critical preparation for operating your floor scrubber is making sure cords and hoses are in working order. If any cord is frayed or split or any hose leaking, you’ll want to get it repaired before you attempt to use your scrubber. A frayed or split cord can expose a live wire and risk an electrical fire, and a split or leaking hose will leave a trail behind you as you clean, creating the need for further cleanup. Maintaining and repairing cords and hoses will ensure your machine operates safely and efficiently.

Make Sure Your Scrubber’s Pad or Brush Is in Good Shape + Matches Your Floor Type

Floor Scrubber Brush

A damaged brush or pad can harm your floor, so you’ll also want to be sure this important scrubber part is in good shape. You’ll also want to make sure that the pad or brush installed on your scrubber is the right kind for the floor material. The same pad or brush that works on concrete may harm your wood floor.

If you find that it’s really tough to reach some areas of your floor with your scrubber, then don’t waste time trying. Instead use your scrubber on the largest, dirtiest areas that you can reach effectively and then do touchups with a mop or handheld brush or pad. If you cover the largest areas with your scrubber, you’ll appreciate the difference it makes.
