Left Hand Bits + Screw Extractors

Left Hand Bits + Screw Extractors

There is nothing worse than dealing with a stripped or broken screw or bolt, but if those come up while working on a project, a left-hand bit or screw extractor can help. These drill bits are designed to help you remove those and have a shot at helping you save the material or project you’re working on. If you’re looking for a good set of left-hand bits or screw extractors, or if you’re looking for a single bit or extractor, we can help you find the right one for the right job at Northern Tool + Equipment.

What should you do first when encountering a stuck bolt on a project? It would be best if you gave a left-hand drill bit a try. These drill bits work in a counter-clockwise direction so you can loosen the bolt, making it easier to remove from the material it is stuck in. Doing this may not remove the stripped or broken bolt on its own, and the use of a screw extractor might be needed, but you will be closer to getting the job done.

When a left-hand bit doesn’t remove a stripped or broken screw or bolt, you will want to use a screw extractor. These extractors can drill deep into the bolt or screw if it refuses to move. Once the screw extractor has got its hold of the screw, all you need to do is pull and the problematic stripped or broken screw or bolt should be fixed.
