Concrete Grabs + Pipe Lifters

Concrete is the most-consumed material in the world, with billions of tons being produced annually for construction of buildings, foundations, pavement, and more. A large amount of concrete is formed into slabs or other molded shapes prior to placement in the construction site. Concrete slab tongs and/or concrete grabs must be used to transport and place these components safely and efficiently. Northern Tool + Equipment’s selection of ASME certified Caldwell-brand concrete lifting machinery includes pipe lifters, manhole housing lifters, and pressure tongs.

The pipe lifters range in lifting capacity from 3,000-30,000 lbs. Minimum load width varies by model, but each tool provides operators with the ability to lift and place concrete pipes up to 8 ft long. Manhole housing lifters, also called concrete grabbers, feature two or three "legs" or clamps that can be easily adjusted for a balanced hold. Models offered by Northern Tool can handle 2–6-inch concrete wall thickness and either 10,000 or 15,000 lbs. capacity. Slab tongs use pressure to hold 550-14,500 lb. slabs of material between two pads. Customers may choose between steel or polyurethane padded tongs in a wide range of lifting capacities and load widths. Those with serrated steel pads are suited to grip rough concrete whereas polyurethane padded tongs would be more ideal for smooth surfaces or materials that need to be protected such as stone or metal.
