Types of Sprayers
Portable Sprayers
Small hand-held or backpack sprayers that can handle small jobs, like spraying weeds in a yard or patio. They would be used occasionally in residential and rural homes. Common chemicals applied would be Round-Up.
All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Sprayers
Mounted on your electric-start ATV. They would be most commonly used for spraying weeds, trees and fence lines on a rural home or farm. Normal use is twice per month during the spraying season. Typical chemicals applied include Round-Up, fruit tree oil and liquid Sevin.
Tow Behind Sprayers
Require an electric-start lawn tractor or ATV to tow the sprayer. They are most commonly used to spray lawns on a residential home, rural home or farm. Normal use is twice a month during the spraying season. Popular chemicals used include Round-Up, Weed-B-Gone and Diazinon.
Skid Sprayers
Heavy-duty and are mounted in the bed of a full-size truck. They are typically used by a business for daily applications during the spraying season. Most-used chemicals include Round-Up, 2,4-D, and Trimec.
Types of Sprayer Guns
Spot Sprayer Guns
Designed for treating small isolated areas such as weeds. Spray nozzles adjust from mist to stream. Their spray height is limited and it is difficult to apply liquids evenly to large areas.
Broadcast/Boom Sprayers
Specifically designed for treating large areas. They are difficult to use for small areas.
Tree Sprayer Guns
Perfect for spraying tall trees and delicate items. Spray nozzles adjust from mist to stream. However, it is difficult to apply liquids evenly to large areas with these spray guns.
Lawn Sprayer Guns
Ideal for spraying large areas. Achieving even applications may be difficult, as well as spraying small isolated areas. Spray height is limited.
