  1. Are these pest (mouse) proof?

    1. They do form a tight seal, so they are not flimsy. As long as the top is placed on right I don't see any insects or rodents able to crawl inside.

    2. I would think so, there are no open holes they could enter through. However, aggressive rodents could chew through the plastic much the way the could a garbage can.
      I would trust them for general storage, but not for remote or long term food storage.

    3. The manufacturer does not test their product against pests but the Tough Box storage tote is not air tight so pests could get inside.

  2. Are these wet proof?

    1. We moved recently. We have used about $2,000 of these bins. For the ones being transported openly, we put a large trash bag inside, filled the bag, and tied it with a zip tie. For bins moved without the bags inside, we laid a large tarp in the truck, with most of it up over the cab and enough in the bed to set the entire bin on top of; loaded the bins with the top layer even, and wrapped the tarp back and down, completely covering the bins. We secured the tarp down across the top, and around the stack. We went through heavy rains and did not have any problems with water getting into our totes.

    2. The tote is not air tight therefore it isn’t water tight or wet proof. The plastic material does shed water.

  3. I want to use these as a platform for a bed in a van. How much weight can one tote take on to of it?  What if it were two full totes stacked?

    1. Each Tough Box 27-Gallon Storage Tote has a weight capacity of 75 lbs. when used individually. If you stack two full totes, the combined weight capacity would be 150 lbs.

    1. The tote is not UV resistant. It would not be recommended to leave this outdoors for long periods of time.
