    2. I have this mower and I never use the bag. The lawn always look like I banged the grass. My lawn looks perfect. Best lawn mower I ever used. Be sure you put at the green handle on mulch.

    3. As you know there is no side discharge and although you can switch from mulch to bag with a lever and then just remove the bag (which I just keep on all the time) it's not really designed for that as the grass would try to come out the back towards you.

    5. This mower is capable of mulching. The bag can be removed for mulching, but it does not have to be. There is a Clip Director on the mower which can be adjusted to either the Bag or the Mulch position to achieve the style of mowing desired.

  2. Does the Honda HRN 216VKA have a deck wash port?

    Does the Honda HRN216VKA have a deck wash port? If not how frequent does Honda recommend cleaning the deck?

    1. No but you turn off the gas and put it on it side. Better than a water port. I clean my every time I mow. When I put it a way it look bran new again.

    2. no deck port wash, don't know about recommended cleaning, but if you want to clean under the mower any time grass is sticking in order for the mulching to work properly.

    3. This does not have a deck wash port. It is recommended to rinse after heavy use to prevent build up of grass under the deck.

  3. can you set/use the mower at one speed & not use the smart drive

    1. Not that I have figured out, the smart drive is fairly easy to use and does not fatigue the thumbs even after an hour of use.

  4. If you release the self propelled in a fence corner can you pull the mower backwards?

    1. Both the back wheels are engaged when you pull the mower backward after disengaging the self propel feature on the mower.

    1. The mower would be rear wheel drive.

  6. with this mower, do both rear wheels propel or just one?

    1. You will apply pressure to the Smart Drive control. This will engage both rear wheels. When you release the Smart Drive control it will disengage (stop) the rear wheels.

  7. How is the self propeller system work? Is there a belt does it wear out?

    1. A self propelled mower pushes itself forward instead of the operator pushing from behind. Once you engage the drive lever, the drive system engages and the mower propels itself forward. The Honda mower model HRN216VKA will have a drive belt model 22431-VR8-N03. The drive belt will wear out in time and require replacing. We do not sell parts through Northern Tool.     1. The model number HRN216VKA. the V stand for variable (smart) drive, the K stands for auto choke with flywheel brake, A stands for the US market and the D represents that the model is no longer affected by the decompressor system malfunction recall.
