  1. Does this come fully assembled?

    By "fully assembled", I mean that I would need to do nothing buy insert the batteries and add kerosene.

    1. no, but not much to put together. 30 mins.

    2. No, you have to attach the top plate, front and rear guards, and the carry handle. They are all very easy to install.

    3. The unit would require some assembly upon arriving. The mounting plate, carry handle, batteries, front, back, and top guard would need to be built. The manual will reference how to set the unit up.

  2. is there an even flame around the entire wick

    1. Yes, when clean and adjusted properly.

    2. Yes, if wick is properly installed and in good condition. There are instructions on how to care for the wick. If uneven flame, something needs to be corrected.

    3. There should be a flame covering the exposed portion of the wick. Be sure to follow the owner's manual for correct adjustment and care of the wick.

  3. Can #2 diesel be substituted for the more expensive kerosene

    1. The owner's manual says to use only 1-K kerosene. That is the only fuel I have used.

    2. This kerosene heater is not designed to be used with diesel. Type 1 kerosene is only fuel that should be used in this heater.

    3. No, kerosene burns much cleaner and hotter than #2 diesel. I don't think your wicks would last very long at all.

  4. how often do the wicks have to be replaced?

    1. Usage dependent.

      I use mine about 5 hrs a day, 4 months a year. I dry burn mine once a month and brush the ashes off the wick to keep it burning clean and prolong wick life. Wick will last years if you follow the instructions.

    2. There is no set time frame for wick replacement. Wicks however do need to be checked once a month for tar build up, which can be removed. Wicks need replacing if after repeated cleanings they are slow to light, hard movement of the wick adjuster knob, kerosene odor while burning, low heat output, slow warm up or have become damaged.

    1. The heater is safe to use indoors, but requires safety guidelines. It should be used in a well ventilated area. You would need to follow the proper clearances, as well. It is recommended to install a carbon monoxide detector.

    1. The kerosene heater is not universally restricted, but is subject to state and local laws. It would also carry the Prop 65 warning for California.
