The handle does not swivel. It is stationery. I am more than pleased with mine. Rolls so easy. I was always fighting with my old one.

fixed, u-shape, padded push handle to move it, reel handle solid, notched to fit into the pipe that extends out of the drum and secured with bolts. Mine seemed to fit a little sloppy, but I'm not worried about it failing.

No plastic anywhere except small spacer ring at the rotary union and a plastic handle (grip only) on the wind up crank. Water connections are all brass, and rotary union outer housing is an aluminum cylinder.

To get maximum pressure yes, but if you use a smaller lead hose you probably not even going to notice!
Helpful?
-
ToddFromFargo· 8 years ago
I believe it's going to be the fittings you'd have to worry about. As long as the fittings meet what you're already using, you shouldn't have any problems using a 3/4 inch hose. I'd guess (and it is only a guess) that you may experience slightly less water pressure based on the higher volume of the larger hose, but wouldn't think it'd be very noticeable, as long as you have decent water pressure at your wall spigot.

IrontonExpert13· 8 years ago
This hose reel cart is designed for 5/8" hose and there is only a 5/8" lead hose available for it. If using 3/4" garden hose there will be a loss in pressure with the 5/8" lead hose. The amount of the loss in pressure will be directly related water volume and pressure of the water source.

Does it have a manual break on one of the wheels to prevent rolling while pulling hose out?
-
whittler36· 9 years ago
No brake provided as the hose pulls off from the side at a 90 degree angle to the wheels. The cart does not move when you use it in this mannor.

This hose reel cart doesn't include a wheel brake. The direction at which you pull the hose out is perpendicular to the direction the wheels roll so a brake isn't really necessary.

what is the load rating
What is the load rating for this hose reel? I am looking at purchasing this for storing some electrical cables.
-
maggie123· 8 years ago
I do not recall a specific but it easily rolled up my 100' of heavy duty hose with plenty of room for more and trucked easily to where I wanted it placed. Love it.

BigBikeGuy· 8 years ago
I would be astounded if any manufacturer of a hose cart ever imagined a "load rating." It is designed to hold 300 feet of garden hose - One might be able to pick up 300 feet of garden hose, which I guess would weigh maybe 100 pounds. However, this guy is pretty well designed, so I would expect it to be able to support much more than that. My guess is you would have a lot of trouble winding and unwinding electrical cable because of the weight and lack of flexibility. Welding cables are flexible, but also quite heavy - lots of copper. Something like Romex is lighter, but quite stiff. I bet you couldn't put more that 50 feet of cable on this thing. I think this is not a real good idea.

It says 300ft but I found that it is really good with a 100 ft hose. The extra size of the reel means that you don't have to be to neat when you crank the hose up.

Will this hose reel cart work with pressure washer hose?
I have a maintenance cleaning that requires a lot of pressure washing. We transport on a enclosed utility trailer. So far plastic will not hold up. I need a portable cart that will handle approximately 300 ft of pressure washer hose.

Cart should work for your purpose. No braking mechanism, you will have to find a way to prevent the unit from rolling as you unreel the hose.

More than likely this cart will handle the pressure washer hose. It's a pretty sturdy metal. However, there is a water coupling that is included. You attach the provided leader hose to the faucet. The other part of the coupling attaches to the garden hose. The part that attaches to the garden hose (or in your case the pressure washer hose) appears to only be about 1/2 inch. If you need the bigger hose, you might not be able to use the coupling. However, the cart is real sturdy and it rolls easily. I hope my explanation helps and makes sense!
