Effortless Operation
Gravity-Defying Performance
The patented design of the Gorilla-Lift uses counterbalancing technology to help make heavy utility trailer tailgates or ramps seem virtually weightless during use!
Super Easy One-Hand Operation
The nearly effortless system enables the trailer tailgate or ramp to float up or down as light as a feather, making it possible to be lifted from the ground with a tap of the toe, and raised or lowered with only one hand.
Stay-Put Design
If you've ever dropped a tailgate or ramp in mid-lift or mid-descent, you know how frightening, and potentially dangerous and damaging that event can be. The Gorilla-Lift helps to prevent this from happening by maintaining the position of the trailer tailgate or ramp in almost any position in which it is released. Whether it is halfway up, three-quarters of the way up, all the way up or all the way down, it stays put!
The Safer Way to Go
Reduces Back Strain
Eliminating the strain of lifting or lowering a heavy trailer tailgate or ramp weighing up to 300 lbs. can help reduce the risk for personal injuries to you and your employees. Your back, your employees and anyone else who has to lift that trailer tailgate or ramp will definitely thank you for installing a Gorilla-Lift.
Reduces Property Damage
Hundreds of pounds of tailgate metal slamming down onto the pavement, concrete, paver blocks or expensive equipment or tools can cause extensive damage. The special design of the Gorilla-Lift prevents this from happening, eliminating expensive equipment and property repairs.
Designed with Safety in Mind
The Gorilla-Lift design incorporates fully enclosed housing over the lifting mechanism to keep hands and fingers out of harm's way and prevent on-the-job injuries.
Premium Quality
Built To Last
This two-sided lift assist system attaches to both sides of the trailer tailgate or ramp, helping to prevent the hinges from deteriorating prematurely or the tailgate from warping due to uneven stresses. A durable powder-coat finish resists corrosion for longer life.
Adjustable Fit For Your Trailer
The Gorilla-Lift system can be adjusted to work with varying trailer tailgate or ramp sizes and weights, allowing you to achieve virtually weightless performance that fits your specific trailer.
Quick and Easy Attachment
The amazing lift system attaches quickly and easily on open utility trailers with square tubing, round tubing or angle iron side rails measuring 10in. to 24in. high and with trailer tailgates or ramps measuring 4ft. to 6ft. high.

extremely easy, if you have a drill, bits and wrenches install is a snap, shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. Once you get the jest of installation on the 1st one, the 2nd is a breeze.

I didn't have any problems with installing the system. The biggest thing that you have to make sure your doing right, is marking the holes prior to drilling. Drilling the holes is really the hardest part of the whole install. Good Luck~

It's as easy as reading the instructions, and drilling the mounting holes, and running a ratchet. Be sure to follow the hint for attaching to the gates, as it will probably save you having to drill a 2nd set of holes.

Pretty easy. You have to drill 2 holes in the top framing on each side and 1 hole in the tailgate on each side

how do you get the corrrect tension on the cables?
is the 2" channel 1 piece or 2 on each side?

2 piece, it comes with “S” hooks so you can trial where to drill your holes
Helpful?
-
Moltroub· 9 years ago
It's 2 pieces each side. The ends about an inch in have predrilled holes to slide the long bolts into. If I am understanding your tension question correctly, after installing the square tubing, you take the supplied s hooks and determine where to drill your bolts. It may take several attempts. Once you have the correct placement, (I kept the s hooks as close to the outside frame as possible), the gate should stop in any open position. With my gate closed, there is some slack, with it opened in any position, no slack.

Frankemigh· 10 years ago
You adjust the cable tension by positioning the cable on the ramp. You do this by trial and error until you get the right balance.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert12· 10 years ago
The amount of tension on the cables of the Gorilla-Lift 2-Sided Tailgate Lift Assist is adjusted with the positioning of the cables on the tailgate and the size of the springs used. Moving the cable mounts higher or lower on the gate will loosen or tighten the tension on the cables. Smaller or larger springs can be used internally as well for more adjustments if needed.

Yes.... I put it in my 95lb gate....and had to unhook one of of the springs... Because the lift was so strong it would not go down more than a couple feet... I had to pull it down.... But I unhooked one of the springs off each side and it is perfect now....that is a good thing that is has that option... To adjust for lighter and heaver gates... I love it....bought another one for my bigger trailer....

Having experienced the strength of the units, I will say if the average man can pick it up without pulling a muscle the answer is yes. The springs are really strong. If your tailgate is made of one quarter inch thick two inch square tubing, I would say the answer is No. You can download the instructions for installing these and there is a chart there that will give you some idea plus there are some restrictions on how high the side rails on your trailer can be.

HOW long are the rails?
I have a 12 ft trailer with trimmer racks on both sides, how long are the rails?
-
LFW1947· 15 years ago
The rails are about 6 foot long.
Helpful?
-
zilla68· 15 years ago
I want to say they are 6 ft long, maybe 2-3 foot sections. Trimmer racks shouldn't be an issue, since the bolts go thru the inside of the tube. I have trimmer racks on mine, as well as back pack blower racks and I had no issues, but it is sure a back saver after a long day of mowing

hello,
You will need 6' of flat top rail to mount the lift spring/cable holder. It needs to be near the rear of the trailer.Helpful?
-
mepins· 16 years ago
the rails are 6 ft long and made in two 3 ft sections. They are made of 2 X 2 square tubing with a mounting bolt hole at each end.
On my 6 X 10 trailer I had a truck box tool box mounted over the side rail and fender on one side. To install the lift rail on that side I modified the box mounts to raise the box 2 inches so now it rests just above thelift rail.Helpful?

ProductExpert11· 16 years ago
The rails on the tailgate lifts are 72 inches long, it is recommended for trailer tailgates 4 to 6 feet tall, and a maximum tailgate weight of 300 pounds.

Can i use on a 2 Horse trailer
I have an older 2horse trailer with a heavy ramp. Would i be able to install this on that trailer? Can it lift a solid ramp? Most pictures show an open ramp for utility trailer.
Thanks for your help. Would love to be able to lift this ramp that easily
Jeanne
-
Moltroub· 9 years ago
If your ramp is 300 pounds or lighter. I would also put the heads of the bolts from the inside out if you can, just so you and your horses don't get snagged by a bolt. Or get the locking nuts that are rounded at the ends and cut the bolts flush with the nuts

The gates on my trailer are fairly heavy (around 75 pounds each). I only needed to use one spring per side (there are two springs provided per side). Not sure how much your gate weighs, but these should help.

ProductExpert5· 10 years ago
This lift will work for you if your trailer has side rails with a height from 10 to 24 inches and a secured tailgate/ramp no longer than 6 feet weighing 300 pounds or less.
