  1. is "UV" equivalent to "red"?

    I've never seen a flashlight with "UV" and wondered if this is the same as the red light I am looking for marine night vision protection?

    1. This LED/UV flashlight emits UV (ultraviolet) light. This is the same light that's emitted by a black light. Ultraviolet light is different from the red light (or red LED's) that many people use to help protect their night vision.

    2. No sir, different part of the spectrum. UV is ultraviolet or "black light." You either want red LED's (not infrared) or a red filter for a white light to protect your night vision.

    3. Basic science - UV & infrared are opposites in relation to the visible light spectrum. UV has a shorter wavelength/higher frequency beyond visible violet. Infrared has a longer wavelength/lower frequency beyond visible red. Short answer: No, they are not equivalent.

    4. NO. UV is the other end of the light spectrum from red. Ultra (beyond) violet or past the blue end of the rainbow.
