  1. Do you sell the replacement rods for the hydrants? or can they be ordered? Next question would be if the rod is 6.5 feet what would the hydrant length be?

    1. Replacement down rods are unavailable for purchase. With a 4 foot bury depth, the amount of hydrant sticking up above ground is about 2.5 feet.

  2. Winterizing/Summer Use?

    The manual states to not leave a hose connected so the hydrant can properly drain to prevent freezing. Would it be reasonable to assume that leaving a hose connected during the summer months would not be an issue?

    1. Leaving the hose on may cause contaminants to siphon back into the water system so it is recommended to disconnect the hose when not in use.

  4. what is the total lenght of the hydrant? 4 feet buried how much is above ground

    1. The total length of this frost proof hydrant is 6 feet. Approximately 2 feet would be above the ground.

  5. When shut off, does the water drain out of the stand pipe?

    1. Yes, the water draining out of the stand pipe is what prevents the water from freezing an causing damage to the hydrant. Be sure to select a hydrant that can be buried deeper than that frost line in your area.

  6. How do I determine the proper bury depth of existing hydrant?

    I have a "Columbiana" yard hydrant that was installed by previous owners .. the hydrant is leaking and the manufacturer is no longer in business. I need to replace the hydrant preferably with a "Watersource" frostproof. However, I'm not sure how to determine what bury depth the current hydrant is. Also, never having installed or removed a yard hydrant ... any tips you may offer to insure proper installation of a new one would be very helpful.

    1. This frost proof hydrant has a bury depth of 4feet. I would suggest that you contact a professional that is experienced in replacing yard hydrants.
