The Wagner Double Duty HVLP Sprayer is a fine finishing sprayer designed for use with lighter-bodied, oil-based material including oil enamel, oil-based primer, oil stain, clear sealer, polyurethanes and varnish (some may require thinning prior to use).   1. Can i use this to spray Polyurethane Enamel Paint?

    Im painting a small boat. Should this gun be able to spray that kind of paint? Also, what is the diameter of the tip?

    1. The Control Spray Double Duty should be able to spray a polyurethane enamel without issue. The actual size of the orifice will be about 1.8mm.

    2. This HVLP sprayer is capable of spraying polyurethane enamel paint.
      The tip is a variable. It has 3 patterns and a variable control trigger with patterns from 1" to 10".

  2. Can this model spray latex paint without thinning the paint?

    1. This Wagner Double Duty HVLP Sprayer is not compatible with latex paint (thinned or not thinned).

    2. The Control Spray Double Duty is not meant for use with latex paint, thinned or unthinned. A stronger sprayer would be required for most latex materials. The Double Duty is meant for use with sealers, varnish, oil based primers and stains etc.

    1. It's not recommend to spray automotive paint with the Control Spray Double Duty.

    2. We do not recommend spraying automotive paint with the Control Spray Double Duty. Automotive finishes often have low flashpoints below 70 degrees, which can be hazardous with these electric units. Also, the harsh cleaners they require can be troublesome. Typically automotive finishes are best with a compressor and a metal conventional gun.

  4. #1 How well does this unit perform at 90 degree angle. What advantages does this unit have over the Wagner power painter plus ?

    1. The manufacturer recommends the spray gun should be held perpendicular to and one (1) or more inches from the spray surface, depending upon the spray pattern size desired.

      The Wagner Power Painter Plus uses high speed piston pump technology in conjunction with the tungsten carbide Optimus Dual Tip to provide a professional fan shaped pattern preferred for achieving the best, most even finish. Great for shutters, lattice, sheds, fences, garages, and smaller houses. The Wagner Control Spray Double Duty uses HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) air power technology to spray thin materials such as stains, sealers, urethanes, varnishes, and lacquers. It features a two stage indoor/outdoor rated air turbine for a continuous flow of material and air producing a professional fine finish whether staining your deck or refinishing your kitchen cabinets.

    2. The Control Spray Double Duty should not be sprayed at a 90 degree angle. This will allow the suction tube inside to be exposed to air rather than the material you are trying to spray. The Power Painter Plus with EZ Tilt is made to be sprayed at 90 degrees straight up or straight down, it has a flexible suction tube where the Control Spray Double Duty does not. The other large difference is the Control Spray Double Duty is meant for light-bodied materials such as stains, sealers, varnish etc. The Power Painter Plus will work well with materials that are thicker than that such as latex paint.

      The advantages to the Control Spray Double Duty over Power Painters are more control, less overspray and a finer finish. It is great to use on furniture, fences, wood work etc.

  5. how well does this sprayer work on ceilings

    1. HVLP sprayers are high volume, low pressure for a finer finish and better control. You can use it for ceilings but it may take longer than an airless sprayer.

    2. The Control Spray Plus is a High Volume Low Pressue (HVLP) sprayer. Which will give you a finer finish, better control, and less overspray. You can use it to paint a ceiling, but it would not be the sprayer I would recommend because it is going to take you longer than if you were using an airless sprayer and you may need to thin your paint.

  6. I would like to know if an electric type sprayer is better than a compressed air type sprayer? I am looking to use it around the house and shop.

    1. Electric sprayers work great on household jobs like siding ,doors, cabinets ete. They don't work good for painting your car. Electic sprayers will work better on thicker paints or stains.

    1. No, that option is not available for this model.

    2. There is no adapter available for these to be used direct from the paint can. You would need to put the paint in the included cup.

  8. how many CFPM and how long can it run without stopping?

    1. The Control Spray Double Duty has 12 CFM. The run time will depend on the material that you are spraying and how you have the sprayer set.

  9. Can this spray Oil based metal paint?

    I see in the description that it can spray oil based primers. Can it spray oil based metal enamel paint, such as Rustoleum? Would it need to be thinned? Thanks
