  1. How often does the sprayer need pumping?

    I'm a retired lady who does much gardening.

    I've owned a Hudson battery power backpack sprayer. Loved it - no energy expended pressurizing it. However, the pump has stopped working.

    I am thinking about replacing it with this Solo model, however I don't want to be constantly pumping.

    1. For the same size model, this will weigh a pound or two less than a battery powered version. You will not need to constantly pump, even with continuous spraying. Once you pump it up to a good pressure, you will need to pump every few - 10 seconds to maintain good pressure depending on how continuous you are spraying, the nozzle selection and adjustment, pace of walking, etc. The pump handle is relatively easy to activate even when pressurized to a decent amount (sorry I don't remember gauge numbers at the moment).

    2. This Solo Chemical Backpack Sprayer uses a pressurized cylinder instead of having to pressurize the entire tank. It will take about 10-12 pump to pressurize the cylinder. The sprayer will run about 60-90 seconds and then only require 2-3 pumps to re-pressurize for another cycle.

  3. How high will this model spray. I have 30 ft tall trees.

    Does the cheaper model (90psi) spray as high.

    1. The maximum vertical spray height with this unit is 4 feet. A 60” (150mm) brass spray wand extension can be purchased separately to reach a vertical spray height of 16 feet. The 90 PSI model (pictured below) has a straight stream distance of 25 to 30 feet.

  7. Should I get a 60 or 90 psi model?

    What are the advantages and uses of both? Does the 90 psi model need more pumping?

    1. This sprayer, Model 425 Deluxe, will have adjustable pressure ranges(15,30,45 & 60 PSI) while Model 425(item #2757) operates only at 90psi. The Deluxe model will also include a pressure gauge, more comfortable shoulder straps, and a brass wand and nozzle. Both units require the same amount of pumping. Because they have an pressurized cylinder inside, it takes about 10-12 pumps to get up to pressure. The sprayers will run for 60-90 seconds and only require 2-3 additional pumps to re-pressurize the cylinder for each cycle.

    1. This Solo Chemical Backpack Sprayer cannot be used with chlorine based products, including bleach.

  9. How many nozzeles are there and what are the spray patterns? How do I get the optional plug to obtain 90 PSI?

    1. This item comes with the following nozzles one brass (which should be on the unit with a regular spray pattern), one flat (spray pattern), one jet (spray pattern), and one swirl (spray pattern). The optional plug part # SOL4200215 is available through our parts dept 1-800-222-5381 option 3.
