    I would like to know the surge wattage as opposed to the running wattage as I will be running this unit off a generator.

  4. do you have to install in a window or just plug in

    I am wondering if this will heat/ cool a 3 car garage and if this model is just to plug in and use like a floor model?

    1. This Soleus portable air conditioner with heater comes with an exhaust hose to vent outside, and you will not need to install the unit in a window, just plug into a 120 volt outlet. If the area you are heating/cooling is 600 square feet with 8 foot ceilings you would get approximately a 20 degree increase in temperature.

    Will this unit switch from a/c to heat automatically or do you have to do it manually.

    1. The color panel on this item has different selections that you could chose from to A= Auto, B= Cool, C= dehumidify, and E=Heat to change from heat to cool.

    1. There are many factors that will cause the heating and cooling area to vary.
      For cooling, a typical 12,000 BTU air conditioner will cool approximately 500-600 square feet, but can differ depending on sunlight coming in, amount of insulation, etc.
      For heating, the following formula can be used to determine BTUs needed:(cubic footage x .133 x amount of degree rise desired = BTUs needed)
      So if your room is 600 square feet with 8 foot ceilings you would get approximately a 20 degree increase in temperature.
