    1. The pump is not sealed. Water can come out the top when plunging if not used correctly.

    1. The housing material is made of thermoplastic. The impeller is made of plastic. The maximum working temperature is 140 degrees F. It is not recommended to be used for boiling temperatures.

  5. how would the "pipe" connect to the hose?

    1. The hose connects to the hand pump with a barbed fitting. The hand pump is intended to be placed inside a water basin to remove the water. The other end of the hose should be placed away from the water source to direct the water somewhere else. It is not designed to be connected to another pipe.

    1. A garden hose should not be attached to this. An extension is not offered. Please view my link to item 79918. This hand pump includes a long 72" hose.
