  2. Do I need a transfer switch? How many watts are actually produced? capacity of gas tank? Electric switch on and off?

    1. A transfer switch is not required. It produces a maximum of 3700 continuous watts and 4500 watts at start up. The fuel capacity is 3.7 gallons. The engine has a recoil starter.

  3. Does this unit have a on off fuel valve.  I am thinking in regards to running the carburetor out of fuel for long term storage.

  6. Any chance you can buy a conversion kit to run on gas or propane or will future units be dual fuel? Gas is not always plentiful after hurricanes.

  7. Why is the outlet in the parallel kit only 30 amps? This generator when paired with another one of its kind produces more than 50A? How do I get all 50A out of these generators without a 50 amp outlet?

    1. To parallel the two 4500 watt generators you would need to purchase the Powerhorse parallel kit item number 96728. This provides a NEMA 10-50R 50 amp 120/240 volt outlet.

  9. Are there any instructions on connecting 2 Powerhorse 83171 units in parallel? Other Powerhorse manuals say to connect first (ie 74006), then start generators (without any loads).

    1. When running generators in parallel, they should be connected together first then started with no load.

  10. Re: voltage selector switch- does selecting 120/240V turn off the 5-R 20r . or can they be used simultaneously?

    1. The other 20 volt outlets can be used when using the 120/240 volt outlet, as long as you do not exceed the 3700 running watts.
