This Powerhorse® Log Splitter has a 208cc OHV engine with low oil shut down and an 11 GPM pump that produces 20 tons of splitting force to split logs up to 25in.L x 14in.dia. Splits in both horizontal and vertical positions, so there is no need to lift large logs. Not for sale in California.

  2. Does this unit "auto-return"?

    So when you let go of the hydrolic handle, does the ram return automatically, or do you have to hold the handle to return the ram?

    1. have to reverse handle and it auto stops its self.

    2. This Powerhorse Log Splitter will detent on the return stroke. When the valve lever is pulled back, it will hold on its own and the ram will return automatically.

  3. will the 4 way splitter head fit this splitter

    1. I don't believe guard on return will accept 4 way buts its much faster and racks are sturdy built to hold large diameter logs over 20" ,I just laid half on other side and split it fast .

    2. The 4-way wedge wings will not work with the Powerhorse Log Splitters. The dual split feature on this splits on both the forward and return stroke, making it faster than most splitters even without a 4-way wedge.

  4. HYDRAULIC FLUID

    Hi There !! How much fluid will I need to refill the Whole Unit ....... ?? Thank You..... Joseph .....

    1. 3 and half gallon approximately and very slow process ,you' need long neck skinny funnel and figure at least 45 minutes to get thru small inlet ,break down into smaller container much easier to hold and easier on back than trying to hold 5 gallon pail.

    2. The Powerhorse Log Splitter requires 3.5 gallons of either 10wt AW32, ASLE H-150, or ISO32 hydraulic fluid.

  5. How many separate heavy parts are in the crate?

    I will have to transport the splitter by boat from my home delivery address to my island where it will be assembled. I would like to transport it in as many less than one hundred pound pieces as possible.

    1. the heavyist part is cylinder at about 75 lbs ,then motor at say 35 lbs ,the frame is in pieces so should be able to distribute weight around ,shouldn't be a problem but you would probably have to make at least 2 runs at it with hydraulic oil which is heavy (5 Gallon container) .there's 3 heavy parts counting Hydraulic fluid.

    2. The Powerhorse Horizontal/Vertical Log Splitter will arrive almost entirely assembled. If you need to disassemble in order to transport, it has only 3 heavy parts. The heaviest part is the beam itself, weighing 93 lbs. The hydraulic cylinder is 57 lbs, and the engine is 36lbs. The rest of the splitter is smaller pieces, typically less than 10 lbs.

    2. Yes, this splitter is different from the other Powerhorse splitters in the respect that it only splits in one direction. The feature that you will get with this unit that you do not get with the other Powerhorse splitters, is that it has the capability to split either vertically or horizontally so that if you are splitting especially heavy logs they do not need to lifted all the way up to the table. The cycle time for this splitter is approximately 13 seconds.

    1. I would say if you tilt upright it will split anything.

  10. Can I store it upright?

    Assuming all the gasoline is removed, can I store it upright, including the tongue and motor without oil leaking from the engine?

    1. The Powerhorse Log Splitter cannot be stored with the whole unit in a vertical position. This would void the manufacturer's warranty.
