I know the kit calls for 2x10’s all across but i feel like the benches are slightly far away from the table. Anyone try using 2x12’s for the benches?

I used 2 x 12's and found that the table laid out great. I routed a slight round over on the edges of the 2x12"s before finishing and assembling that gave it a nice clean look.

Just because the kit is predrilled for 2x10 boards, there is no reason why it wouldn't work with 2x12 boards. It's simple enough to drill some new holes that will work for your layout.

I don't see why 2 x 12 s could not be used. You could have +/- an extra 2" or so in or out, just line up the 2 x 12 the way you want it.

What is the finished width of the table including the benches? In other words how wide is it from outside of one bench to the outside of the other bench?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· a year ago
The manufacturer did not have the exact measurements when finished. The table top would use three 10" wide boards and each seat would use one 10" wide board. That would make it 50" wide, but there would be some gap between the table top and seats.
