    I've shopped several vendors locally and the only electric heaters I found were made in China -- which I won't buy or own. Made in USA is preferred.

  2. What is the BTU rating?

    1. Low Position = 400 watts = 1365 BTU/hr
      High Position = 800 watts = 2730 BTU/hr

    2. It has two heating elements and a control knob. One setting on the control knob is 400W (one heating element ON) and the other is 800W (both heating elements ON).

    3. I have no figures. It will not make your bathroom uncomfortably hot, but you can feel the heat on your body 8 feet away on Low. No fan/No noise. You can hear your small radio or folks speaking outside the room. Our past heater used 1,500 Watts on high. Made the lights dim when it came on (& the outside electric meter spin :)
      This one uses 400 Low, 800 High. I guess you could say that it projects heat on YOU rather than blow hot air around the room. Have under your desk to warm your feet, yes. This will not heat the whole room well.
      It's great as long as you understand what to expect.

  3. How many amps ?

    1. At 400 watts: 400/120volts= 3.3 amps

      At 800 watts: 800/120volts= 6.6 amps

    2. Maximum is 800 watts, which tranlsates into approximately 7 amps based on 115 voltage. The reason it doesn't put out the standard 1500 watts for a small portable heater is because of the small size. The quartz elements would have to have twice the length and twice the surface area to radiate it. The nice thing about it is you can leave it on the 400 watt setting around the clock, and barely notice an increase in your electric bill.

    3. I just checked mine with a Kill-A-Watt meter. It draws 3.3 amps on 400 watt setting and 6.5 amps on the 800 watt setting. We have been very pleased with this heater and normally use it on the 400 watt setting. We also purchased the vertical H5280 model. 400 watts is plenty when sitting 3 to 4 feet away.

    1. It is about six feet long. Also, it is white so you can't miss it when walking around it.

    1. This Optimus Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater is not to be used in bathrooms, laundry areas or other similar indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container
