  1. Which kind of adapter do I use if I mount on a 8hp gas engine ?

    1. The pump mounting bracket, item 3042, will work with this pump and select 8 HP engines.

  2. Since this pump has a drain port, are there check valves isolating the shaft seal from the two ports? What is the shaft seal pressure rating

    1. The pump has the drain port, because there are no check valves. The manufacturer does not give a shaft seal pressure rating.

  3. What size are the port holes? Also, how long is the output shaft?

    1. The side or inlet ports are 1-1/16-12 (#12 SAE O-ring Boss) and the rear or outlet ports are 7/8-14 (#10 O-ring Boss). The total length of the shaft is 1-5/16".

  4. I notice you have answered the question if this can be belt driven. Is a bearing block needed? Or can you just put a pulley on and go? Thanks...

    1. This gear pump can be used with a belt drive pulley system, however it would need a pillow block. At this time, Northern Tool + Equipment does not offer a pillow block that fits this gear pump.

  5. What motor size is recommended for this? Can I use a drill?

    1. When the motor is running at 1500 psi you would need approximately a 3.97 HP electric motor. A drill would not be able to be used.

    8 GPM is meaningless without the RPM it is rated at.

    1. The displacement of the unit is 9.55 (0.584) mL/r(in³/r). The unit will output 2,000 rated RPM's and 4,000 max.
