  1. Will this emit a sound that will effect my dog?

    1. No. I have dogs, they don’t know it’s there.

    2. No sound is involved. Just blinking lights that look like eyes of an animal and it scares away the Coyotes.

    3. Not that I'm aware of. It's simply a strobe light. We have two dogs and they are oblivious to the units.

    4. This uses light not sound. Livestock, pets and any other domestic animals ignore the flash. It is not an annoying strobe type flash therefore will not attract undue attention; however predators see it instantly because of their wary nature.

  2. Will this work against armadillos tearing up my yard at night?

    Will this work against armadillos? They come at night.

    1. It works on skunks that were digging up my yard,
      I don't have armadillos, so I don't know about that.

    2. I have two of these in my garden and you have to make sure you have them located down low so that it will detect the predator and you must make sure nothing is in the way, free & clear of any leaves flowers, etc..so far so good, as for armadillos, it should work.

    3. This product will be effective when you put them every 25 feet around the perimeter of where the armadillos are active and buried so they are 10 inches or less in height above the ground.

  3. Would this chase off our farm/yard cats? We have problems with opossum and raccoons stealing food and sleeping spots on the deck.

    1. We have an outside cat and it does not bother him.

    2. If the cats are not domesticated, it may deter them because of their wary nature; however, if they are used to the area they may not scare from the light. It is designed to deter predators such as opossums and raccoons.

  4. Will it work in an area that gets very little sunlight?

    1. We live between two mountains and get very little sun in a days time, they have been working fine

    2. For optimal performance, this should be placed in a location where it will receive the best sunlight. Since this is solar powered, if placed in an area that receives very little sunlight, the flasher may not work properly or last throughout the entire night.

  5. Are cattle or river/water buffalo started by the flashing light?

    I need to protect our river buffalo that are a bovine species from mountain lions and bears. Will the flashing light cause them to get startled?

    1. No they are not Just wild animals

    2. This unit has been proven to protect against nocturnal predators such as bears, bobcats and cougars. Your river buffalo should not be effected by the lights.

  6. Flashing light

    Thinking about trying this but isn't the flashing light annoying?

    A motion sensor would be nice.

    1. It should not be annoying, unless you're out in the yard looking directly at it. That's when you're supposed to see it!

    2. This light is not motion activated and starts flashing when it gets dark out. This flash of light is not considered annoying because it is more like the flash of a security light in your car and not that of a strobe light.

  7. Will the Nite Guard Predator repel cats?

    If not please suggest what might work to keep stray cats off our property.

    1. I use to have stray cats come in the back yard. I have had several cats before. Since putting these out I have not seen a one for about 6 months. I also would get a opossum every now and then, and I have not had any of these as well.

  8. Could the light be fixed to stay on and if so how many lumens is the light

    1. Light has no provision for continuous on. Light not very bright and I was skeptical when i first put light out but it is enough light to discourage varmints and solved my problem with skunks and opossums digging under out building.

    2. The light flashes only. The light can been seen up to a quarter mile in distance and the manufacturer does not have the amount of lumen the light is.

  9. I am having coyotes jump my 6 foot fence. The property is rather large, how many would I need? Are they to be equally spaced so many feet apart?? What height would they need to be placed on the inside of my property? 

    1. We had coyotes walking our fence line, which caused our LGDs to want to hop our 5’ fence to chase after them. We have roughly 300’x300’x300’ of our 10 acres fenced. We put 2 on each of the 3 sides, about 2.5’ - 3’ high on the fence. I saw the new coyote trail and it’s roughly 1,000’ from our fence line now. So, it keeps hem a good distance away. The LGDs barking doesn’t hurt to back up the illlusion of something dangerous to the coyote being there.

    2. To determine how many you would need you would have to figure out how much square feet you are trying to cover. Each one has a range of a 1/4 mile out and 200 feet wide. The manufacturer recommends mounting them at at least 4 feet high. There is a tab on the top of the unit for a screw so that it can be mounted on a post or stake.

  10. will it work on deer and how far away?

    1. The deer have always gotten into our garden. We purchased two of these and put one on each end of the garden.This year we haven't had deer or raccoon in it.

    2. This item will work on deer and the range is up to 1/2 mile on a flat open surface.
