  1. what antenna

    what antenna does the midland micro model mxt400 use? do you have the antenna for this radio?

    1. Midland offers a couple of choices based upon what space you have available. Would recommend the MXTA11 which is about 30 in long and great if you have the room to mount it. This will give you the best range

    2. You must use a antenna designed for UHF (450-470 MHz. ) to work with these radios . Do not try to use a regular CB antenna, they are for 27 mhz. freq. range. There are several choices of antennas for these radios depending upon what you are mounting the radio in. these antennas are available at any mobile two-way radio shop. They also need to be cut to proper length for the center of the FRS/GMRS band ( about 465 MHz ) for best performance . A cutting chart comes with each antenna.

    3. Northern Tool currently does not carry an antenna for this MXT400 radio. You may contact the manufacturer for accessories. To get the best range from the MXT400 an external antenna (50Ω) should be used.

  2. Can unit be connected by a novice or does it require a professional

    How does this unit connect to a power supply

    1. It can be connected by someone with some knowledge of 12volt wiring. You will need to find a place to mount the unit, hook up power, and run a cable and install an antenna

    2. Professionals and novices alike can install this unit. This unit comes with a 12 Volt power cord that would be hooked up to a vehicle battery for the power supply.

  3. Channels

    Does this radio have the same freq as channel 19 on CB radio?

    1. No - not compatible with "CB" Radios. They use different frequencies

    2. The MST radio has GMRS frequencies, not CB frequencies. It would not have the same frequency as channel 19 on a CB radio.
