Can this be used inside the home? Or strictly on the road?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· a year ago
A mobile CB radio can be used in the home as a base station. You would need a DC power supply and a base station antenna. The power supply should have an output of between 12 to 14 DC volts. The power supply must be rated at 3 amps or more.

I see this pictured in two configurations-rubber duck/battery pack and car adapter/external antenna. Can you mix those as in car adapter/rubber duck or does the radio automatically switch to the external antenna when the car adapter is attached?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 5 years ago
If you use the car adapter, you would be able to install an external antenna. It will automatically switch to the external antenna. If you have it connected to the car adapter, but still want to use the rubber duck antenna, there is a metal square on the bottom of the radio, that you can cover with a piece of electrical tape and it would not automatically switch over. For best performance the external antenna is recommended.

How does this work? So how far away can you communicate with someone with these?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 5 years ago
The radios would talk to each other, similar to an FRS radio. It would have good line of sight range. Depending on the terrain, you would have a range of 3-20 miles.

What's the average range? Do these use repeaters?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 5 years ago
The CB radio would not use repeaters. It has a rubber duck type antenna, so the range for the radio will be line of sight, with a range of 3 miles to 20 miles, depending on the terrain.
