Product Summary

Shredder has 24 free-swinging reversible hardened steel hammers. Chipper has hardened, special steel blade on heavy flywheel. Hopper opening is 18in. Screens include 1in. standard bar; and 1/4in., 1/2in., 3/4in. perforated as options. Includes PTO shaft and fits all Category 0 1 tractors having a 1 3/8in., 6-spline PTO with clockwise rotation.

  1. How do the chips leave the hopper?

    What of the chute from which the chips leave the chipper? Is this stationary or does it swivel?

    1. The chips exit the chipper from the bottom. The two hoppers (chutes) on the machine are for stuffing stuff into. The big hopper is for stuff less than one inch in diameter and the smaller hopper is for the larger stuff, i.e. limbs.

    2. The chips just fall out the bottom of the unit. If you are doing a lot, you'll have to rake them out or move the tractor.

    3. it is stationary and material does pile up beneath it...but easy to clear with a pitch fork.

    4. there is no chute they deposit on the ground!

    5. The discharge is on the left side of the chipper as you are facing the input shoot. This discharge is in a fixed position.

  2. Kubota B7100

    I am very close to deciding to order the TPH-122M Chipper/Shredder but want to be sure that it will work with my Kubota B7100 category 1 3 Point hitch and PTO shaft length.

    Are there adjustments on the TPH-122M to adapt it to different 3 point hitch lengths ?

    1. The drive shaft is actually pretty short, so it should work fine on a BX or B series Kubota without quick-hitch adapters. I run mine on a Kubota 3430DT with quick-hitches, which adds about four inches all around. The stock drive-shaft was a bit too short, so I put a longer piece of shaft onto the tractor-side coupler.

    2. I think the shaft would work for your machine. I hooked mine to a JD 2320 and it was plenty long enough. There are no adjustments on the unit.

    3. Yes, this chipper should work just fine with your Kabota tractor. The pto shaft that is included with this item is expandable to fit different applications.

  3. Are the optional screens included or do they need to be purchased seperately?

    1. extra screens must be purchased separately. The one included makes a good sized chip for mulch or livestock bedding.

    2. The Merry Mac PTO chipper/shredder comes standard with a 1" (inch) screen. Additional screens can be purchased separately.

  4. Measuring tractor HP

    According to the specs, this chipper/shredder should be powered with a 10 -30 HP tractor. My question is where the HP is measured. Is this engine HP or is it PTO HP?

    1. I run it on a 32-PTO HP tractor with no problems, but always make sure it is firmly on the ground and I never engage the PTO when it isn't all the way down. I think you would have problems closer to the minimum HP range. You have to wind it up to 540 regardless.

  5. CAN YOU GET A DISCHARGE CHUTE FOR THIS SHREDDER? i WANT TO BLOE THE MULCH INTO A TRAILER

    1. No. The way it is designed, it just drops the residue out the side and bottom. There is no blower.

  6. What size hex wrench is required to remove the blade?

    1. The chipper blade can be removed with a 3/16" allen wrench.

  7. Will it hurt the machine to spray the inside good with a garden hose sprayer after each use?

    1. Parts may become damaged with water. It would not be recommended to spray the machine.

  8. What is the weight of the flywheel?

    1. The rotor assembly which includes the flywheel is 40 pounds.

  9. Will it burst up black walnuts? I have several trees and need a way to burst the nuts up to keep them from sprouting.

  10. Staff Question on PTO HP

    I realize the Tractor HP is listed as 10-30 HP. I have a John Deere 1023e with an engine rating of 23 HP but a PTO HP rating of 14.6 HP. Is that enough to run this chipper?

    1. A 14.6 PTO HP rating will provide enough power to run this chipper/shredder.
