  1. Waterproof

    Is the unit waterproof for outside use

    1. The directions indicate that it is not waterproof, but water resistant. I wouldn't use it unless I could locate the locking part (at least) somewhat sheltered from rain or snow.

    2. This lock alarm is weather resistant, but not waterproof. The unit should not be submersed in water.

    3. The Swann Maxi LockAlarm Model SW351-LAM Instruction Sheet says "Keep the LockAlarm sheltered from the weather. It's weather resistant, and will survive brief exposure to light rain, but the battery will last longer and the unit will work better the dryer it is."

      So, No I wouldn't define the lock as waterproof according to the instructions.

    1. Batteries. are secure when alarm is set. Battery compartment is secured by 3 Phillips screws and can easily be changed by owner with key and screw driver.

    2. The batteries on this Lock Alarm are located in a secure compartment. You would need the key to access the location where that compartment is. The batteries can be replaced.

  5. What is the diameter of the cable?

    1. Does not specify, Appears to be 1/8" covered with a vinyl sheath which magnifies cable size. States "seriously tough steel cable" there actually 2 cables in the casing, the small one activates the alarm when cut.
