I grind raw chix bones through it and since cooked bones are more brittle it should take them fine.

Bones OK?
Does this grinder accept cooked chicken bones?

I have used this machine for about 2 years now. I use it every two weeks to make raw food for my cats. It handles raw chicken bones with ease. I don't try to grind any other types of bones though. Just chicken. The only time it every gave me any trouble is when the blade was dull (bones, no surprise there). Replaced the blade and I was happily grinding up whole chickens bones and all for my very spoiled kitties.

It grinds raw chicken bones so cooked should be even easier. We use it around 8 times a year for 250 lbs of raw chicken for our dogs. The first one we had lasted 5 years. The one we just got is a lot quieter so maybe it is an improved model. I did a pretty extensive search and this looks like the best for chicken bones. I don't use it for any other bones but it's pretty powerful so it might work.

I would not run bones in this one, with only a 1/2 hp motor you would likely burn it up. It handles grinding meat very well when it is cleaned(no excessive cleaning required it handled tendons well)

small ones that are cooked would be OK . But I would recommend going to a larger one if you are planning on doing it on a large scale. with larger bones.

stuffing sausage
I have one of these. Is there a way to stuff sausage without having the cutter and grinder plate installed?
-
Sausageking· 14 years ago
Yes, First, make sure that your grinder uses a #10 or 12 grinding plate. Buy an "open" grinding plate of the appropriate size. (It has very large openings instead of the myriad of holes that most grinder plates have. It is designed only to support the auger at its outer end and is held on with the standard grinder end collar. This plate is made for stuffing without a grinder plate or blades installed (exactly what you need). I use mine frequently for stuffing without grinding.

We tried it and couldn't get it to stuff without the blade. Our solution is quite simple... We added our spices before grinding and simply attached the casing to the grinder when you initially grind the meat. This made the whole process fast and simple.

will the grinder handle chicken skin?
I grind raw chicken, thawed, cut into quarters or smaller before grinding. Will this grinder handle the skin, or must it be removed before grinding?
-
TimOakdale· 12 years ago

What is the kubbe used for and how to use it
-
oaky58· 12 years ago
The Kubbe attachment is used just like the sausage making accessories. The difference is that, with the correct meat and grain mixture loaded, your goal is to create a hollow casing which can then be stuffed (by hand) pinched off and then fried.
Look up Kubbe recipes, Middle Eastern foods.Helpful?

ProductExpert12· 12 years ago
The Kubbe attachment is for making sausage. The casings are placed on this sausage funnel for filling. This is described in the manual that is included with the meat grinder.

Can plates be obtained with holes smaller than 3/16 inch?
-
ScottNRA· 13 years ago
Yes, However I have found the machine has trouble with small hole plates unless your meat is partially frozen. Even then, you are going to need a different stomper to push it through. The stomper it comes with is a bit too small to develop enough pressure for pushing meat through the smaller holes. It's not durable either. I ended up buying a bigger stomper at BAss Pro after a couple years of fighting the one that came with it. Made a big difference!

No, the 3/16 inch (medium coarse) plate is the smallest for this unit.

Other Brand attachments ok?
As long as the neck size matches, could you use another brands attachement for a cuber or jerky cutter or would that work?
-
