Yes it is, but you should have saw horses if the wood you are cutting is to long to be supported by table. I'd advise clamping it to table.

Is this table secure/stable enough to support a 12" compound miter/sliding arm saw?

JWL123· 10 years ago
Yes as long as the table is on a flat solid surface. The table is very sturdy and strong.

Yes it is. I used it for that exact purpose, and after I had everything cut I removed the saw and assembled part of my project on the table.

I think you would be better off with a miter stand. It's good and sturdy, but not as much for a lot of movement.

cmarkb· 10 years ago
Yes. It is a very sturdy table that supports quite a bit of weight. The key is having all four legs touch the ground. On uneven ground, you will need to shim the legs.

I think it would be, but it would not like it as it is to short for me, I would have to have it higher off the ground.

yest its very sturdy, I would clamp the saw to the bench which is very thick. I have not tried it yet with power tools so I can't speak to how it would handle vibration, but it certainly holds the weight.

The table top on this work table is 33 1/2 inches long by 21 3/4 inches wide. As long as you place this on a level and hard surface, and your miter saw fits on the table, you should not have any issue. You can also use the included clamps to help secure the miter saw to the table.

Can the legs be adjusted to increase or decrease the height of the worktable????
Keter Folding Work Table, Model# 17182239
-
JRPhandyman· 10 years ago
No. the legs are fixed height - which makes it very sturdy.
There is, however, a model with adjustable legs. I found that the legs wiggle a little due to the joint between the two sections of the legs.

No. This model has fixed height legs.
But, Keter has just come out with a newer model of this work table that does have adjustable legs. It is of course more expensive.
I used my Keter Work Table for several hours, and found the work surface height to be just fine. I will take a look at the new model and see if there are any other features that might entice me to upgrade!

Can I mount a router to it and use it as a router table.
-
DAZ85· 9 years ago
I would say NO to mounting a router to it. The center locking brace is in the way.

-
dvr666· 9 years ago
You can but I wouldn't, table is not heavy or stable enough for that. Read my review of this item. I was kind but honest. Heat can change the table surface and the result for a router is sImLiLaR tO tHiS! I noticed some other reports on this problem for this item.

WildCat68· 9 years ago
Generally, no, the table is too thick. Although the top is flat, it is about 2 inches thick and has ribs going in different directions on the underside that would prevent mounting a router directly to it.

no, it is made for a worktable, not a router table

This table is not designed to have a router mounted to it and attempting to do so could void the manufacturer's warranty.

I only have the use of one hand. The video shows the product being open from both handles. Can this be opened one handle at a time?
-
EHill· 9 years ago
It would be tough as they open symetrically. However, I'm guessing you have overcome many things where two are hands are needed. I would try it...you could always return it to NT as they have a hassle free return.

Each side has latch that releases for that side to unfold. Each side will unlatch and unfold if done separately, however this would be difficult to do with only the use of 1 hand.

WildCat68· 9 years ago
No. I wanted to make sure that I gave an accurate answer here, so I pulled mine out and tried using only one hand in several ways, but it just wouldn't work. If you wanted to get creative and make some sort of a jig you might be able to make something work, but as is, the answer is no. The main reasons are that their are locks on each end that need to be released at the same time and then the bench needs to be lifted evenly to the open position. Now I could see the idea of releasing one lock and putting a wedge in that end to keep it open while opening the other, but then you would still need to attach a rope or something to both ends so that you could lift it from the center to keep it even. But then you have the opposite issue of being able to fold it down. This would require a rope or something again tide to the handle of the bottom part of the bench so that they could be lifted evenly. Like I said the general answer is no, but if you really wanted to you could probably do it, just not easily.

what is the spread on the clamps?
-
WildCat68· 9 years ago
The bar is 20 inches, but the opening of the jaws is only 12.25 inches.
Helpful?
-
pieceworker· 10 years ago
The clamps slide into grooves which are 14" apart.
The maximum spread of the jaws is a hair over 12".
The table width is 33". So, the jaws are about 9-10" from the edge. This 10" matters only if you want to use a saw to cut a piece less than 10".
The clamps are much like bar clamps. There is a small bar on the front edge that slides into/under the slot, locking that end to the table. There is a a sliding small grabber arm that goes toward that end. The near end has three 'parts' 1) a small grabber arm, 2) a clever little piece that slides into a hold in the table to lock down the near end of the bar. 3) a squeeze trigger that draws the bar out of the table. This allows you to set up the work piece between the grabbers and then pull them together to hold the work piece tightly.
All-in-all, quite clever.Helpful?

The shipping weight is listed at 26.6 lbs, how much does the table weigh by itself?

DarkStar· 10 years ago
The only thing in the box is a small paper instruction manual (maybe 8 pages). I would guess the actual weight is very near the same as what is listed, minus the box itself (no insulation inside the box - it's a slide in fit with no open space inside). So my guess is 25 lbs or so when lifted. It's not heavy at all.

22-23#. I am disabled and limited on what I can do, but I can easily lift/move/open/close this table. The built-in carry handle makes it a breeze. Best little worktable I've ever owned. I actually bought one for my daughter to use doing furniture restoration & other home projects, and she loves hers, too.

Miter Saw Attachment
I see a miter saw sitting on the table in the photos, but is there a way for the miter saw to be bolted/attached to the table?
-
JSV1· 9 years ago
I use the clamps that come with it to anchor it to the table. Works just fine and it is temporary as needed!

Oldhandyman· 11 years ago
My table does not have a miter saw attachment. Don't know if any of them do, but I'd be surprised if it did. The more attachments, the more weight. But I am thinking I'll add an outlet & extension cord for when I need my circular saw. We all have different uses and ways this table could help.
