  1. item 17101 block heater where does it go on engine

    1. You can stick it on any flat metal surface that is iron or steel. Be sure to check that it does not get in the way of any moving parts or belts. Secure the wire with cable ties that way they don't catch any moving parts too. Place it on the engine block or oil pan for best results. This unit is pretty small and easy to use.

    2. The magnetic heater is designed to attach to the block of the engine and is held on by the magnet mount which is part of the heater itself.

  2. Can these heaters be used 24/7.

    To be used on a Standby Generator at a Fire Station.

    1. It would be perfect for an exterior generator. Also would work well on the diesel fuel tank to keep it from gelling. I would unplug it in the summer and plug it back in again when winter comes around as part of my pre-winter checks of the unit. 200W is not to hot, but is just enough to get the job done!

  3. How long is the cord?

    I would like to use this on my inboard boat engine but because of sparking concerns, I would plug it in outside the engine room.

    1. On the Kat's Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater the thermostat is set to come on a 271 and off at 275. It can be used for heating engine blocks, tanks, snowblowers, hydraulic systems and more.

    1. Dimensions side to side without the handle is 4", width is 2 14" and height is 2".

  6. What is the temperature thermostat set to, and is it adjustable?

    Both the 1153 (200 Watt) and the 1190 (300 Watt) are temperature controlled with a thermostat. Is the thermostat adjustable by the user? If so, what is the temperature range, and if not, what is the factory-set temperature?

    1. The thermostat is not adjustable, it is factory preset at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
