Product Summary

Vented design provides smooth, glug-free liquid flow. Go beyond protection and compliance with the added convenience of AccuFlow™ with Safe-Squeeze® trigger for safe and controlled pouring. Justrite’s patented manifold and proportional flow-control Safe-Squeeze® trigger provides you the means to regulate the flow rate when handling flammable liquids. Fill port with ergonomic lift lever makes filling easy. Flexible 9in. (229-mm) long metal hose spout helps control the pour into small openings. Made from high-grade coated steel, each can is pressure tested to ensure quality. The tough powder-coat finish resists chemicals and stands up to demands of rigorous use. Stainless steel flame arrester—equipped in all Justrite safety cans— dissipates heat to stop flashback ignition. Sealed lid features automatic positive pressure relief that vents between 3 and 5 psig (0.2 and 0.35 bar) to protect against explosion. Large label ID zone provides writing space to identity contents, department location, or individual user name. All can sizes have extra capacity for adding two-cycle engine oil or other additives. Certified by FM, UL/ULC, and TUV, Justrite safety cans also meet OSHA and NFPA requirements, and come with a ten-year warranty.

  1. Where is your 7250120 Red 5-gallon gas can manufactured? I thought these were manufactured in the USA but on Amazon it indicates China. Is this a recent change or is it correct?

    1. this gas can is made in the usa with some imported parts.
      that is on the outside of each can.
      it is a high end gas can but is very safe.

    2. All Justrite industrial safety products, including our red 5-gallon gas safety cans, are manufactured in the USA, at our manufacturing facility located in Mattoon, IL.

  2. I bought a 5 gallon diesel can with a 5/8” spout. I would have preferred the 1” spout for my tractor. Can change this out to a 1” spout? How much slower will the flow rate be with the smaller spout?

    1. The 1" hose part number would be 11077. Our target flow rate for Type 2 safety cans is 237 ml/sec, which equates to approximately 70 secs to empty a 5-gallon can.

  3. Is the flexible metal nozzle auto-stop to prevent overfilling when fueling a gasoline generator, lawnmower, snow thrower, or other type small engine?

    1. No, the Justrite Type II Safety Cans do not have an auto-stop feature when pouring.

  4. Went out and going to fill up my mower and smell gas my can was leaking out the bottom and I look at the sticker when got the can and was in 2021 when read on the web site has 10 year warranty It not safe to use anymore

  6. With the can filled with fuel can you remove the spout during storage?

    1. The spout on Justrite Type II Safety Cans is removable and can be taken off during storage. The area you pour from will remain closed unless the handle is squeezed.

  7. Do you sell the 5/8 inch diameter flexible metal hose for the Type II gas cans? I need to replace a broken one.

  9. i purchased 9 of red 5gal type II accuflow safety cans for gasoline (part number 7250120) and one of the pour handles/levers broke. i don’t want to throw the can away. where can i find a replacement pour handle that opens the inside valve?

  10. Are the cans  with safety vents safe for indoor storage if the garage gets hot during summer (85 F)  and stays closed for several weeks.

    1. Here are some tips for using your safety can in warm environments;
      When temperatures are hot, the vapor pressure in any safety can be elevated. Safety cans are designed for emergency pressure relief, rated at 3 to 5 psi. Still, 3 to 5 psi can be significant. It is important to relieve that pressure in vapor space (while the safety can is set flat) rather than liquid space (when tilted and dispensing liquid) to avoid a sudden burst of fluid and backsplash.

      When the temperature is warm and there is a sudden cooling, a vacuum in the safety can will be created. There is no vacuum relief valve built into a safety can. While rare and depending on the fluid level in the safety can, the vacuum created can implode a safety can. This is more prevalent in desert locations. There are a couple of things you can do to prevent this:
      Burp your safety cans at the end of the day to relieve pressure. The less difference in pressure, the less likely an implosion will occur.
      Keep your cans shaded or tarped to minimize the temperature gain and pressure gain in the can.

      Keep your safety can fluid level above half full.

      Keeping your safety can in the shade can also minimize material loss. Gasoline for example will boil at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The pressure escaping is a liquid’s vapor escaping.
      Always keep a safety can in a well-ventilated area. Never in a closed vehicle or passenger space.
