I assume this generator develops a square wave output? What is the THD (total harmonic distortion) of the output?
Can this generator be used to power sensitive electronic equipment?-

Waveform not specified in owner's manual. THD stated to be less than 23%, and A/C voltage 120 +/- 10% per manual.

This generator does feature square wave output. This unit also has a THD of less than 23%. It is not recommended to be used to power sensitive electronics. Please see My Product Recommendations below for two of our options that can be used with sensitive electronics.

What type of oil and how much is required?
-
Tigerguy· 8 years ago
I would highly recommend all synthic oil. Never breaks down due to heat.

The engine uses 350ml (llittle over a 1/3 of a quart) of 10W-30 oil

I wondered about this too as I couldn't find this information in the owner's manual. As best as I can determine, SAE 30 or 10w-30 should be well suited for the application and my southern climate. Also it appears that 11 to 12 fluid ounces is the correct amount. Basically you just fill it until the level is just below the filler opening. I also went with a 5 hour break in run and then changed the oil. This is to remove any metal filings from the manufacturing processes that may be in the engine. I hope this is helpful.

is this a 4 stroke straight gas
-
POguy· 8 years ago
yes it is
Helpful?
-
riqueriquardo· 8 years ago
It is a 4-stroke engine. Oil is needed only as a lubricant and goes into a sump on the bottom of the engine. Gasoline (regular) goes into a separate tank on the top of the unit.

Has anyone ran the generator on alcohol free gasoline?
-
RayinApex· 8 years ago
Yes..... I use Non-ethnol gas on all my small engines. It runs fine.

-
Competent· 8 years ago
There is no reason it should not run just fine on straight gas. I run pump gas (10% ethanol) and works like a champ.

ProductExpert30· 8 years ago
You can use alcohol free gasoline as fuel for this generator. If gas with alcohol is used, the alcohol must be less than 10% of the gasoline.

Is a wheel kit available?
-
riqueriquardo· 8 years ago
To my knowledge, there is no wheel kit. No attachment points are visible on the unit. But, it is really lightweight, probably less than 40 pounds. Any healthy adult should be able to lift it and carry it any reasonable distance.

What is the noise level rating on this generator?
-
RayinApex· 8 years ago
I do not have any sound equipment.....This generator is a little on the noisy side. It is not horrible. Given it is a small engine that has to work hard and has a small muffler it is pretty good. If I had to guess I would say it is above 70dB.

IrontonExpert12· 9 years ago
This generator has not been rated with a specific decibel level. Generators can produce noise levels of up to 95 dB in close proximity, which can be dangerous to human hearing with prolonged exposure.
Hearing protection may be required if you are working within 15-20 feet of the running generator for an extended period of time.Helpful?
