    1. I think it would be possible but would need a much longer wire. (I believe Hopkins made reference to a longer cable or extension cable available)!

  2. Is this camera HD, and does it work at night?

    Also how is the picture sent to the monitor? Wired, Bluetooth, wifi?

    4. The sensor and monitor will be wired together to send the picture to the monitor. The installation instructions are too detailed to list here, but complete details are in the manual that is listed on our website.

  4. screen distance in numbers

    does the camera and or screen show the actual footage in feets and inches? i didn't see it on the pictures on your page. or the colors green, yellow, red brighten up as you get closer to the object? thanks for your help

    1. No measurement. There is however a distance bar that fills out and changes color depending on the distance. The is also and audible beep.

    2. no ! but the different colored edge lines green/yellow/red flash when you are within each range! and audible tone increases in frequency too!

    3. The distance is not shown on the screen but the green lines are 3.5 inches to 5.5, the yellow lines are 1.5 inches to 3.5 inches and the red lines are 0 to 1.5 inches. As you back up the colored lines flash as you get closer and there is an adjustable beeping.

  5. Any luck installing this on an SUV with a liftgate?

    I would imagine its very difficult to run the wires to a back up light, since the lights are not on the liftgate, but the license plate is.

    1. I believe you could you'd just have to deal with the wire from hatch to body. My nissan Rogue has a wire harness that goes to the inside hatch door light and believe I could feed it through that grommet and come out where license plate lights wiring comes through the hatch. It would require removing the rear hatch interior panel then running the wire!

    1. It's more than long enough for a Silverado Pickup. About 2ft extra

  9. Water proof?

    I would be using this while backing my boat in the water and some times this requires the bumper to be submerged. Will the camera and sensors stand up to this?

    1. As long as the camera and sensors are not submerged for a long period of time they will be fine.

  10. I have the round, 7-pin trailer connector on my 2005 Ram 1500 pickup but the vehicle plug on the backside of it is a square plug. Is there an adaptor?

    This is NOT a 4 or 5 flat connector

    1. Northern does not have 7-pin trailer connector adapter round to square.
      The manufacturer indicates in the owners manual (PDF on the online product page) to cut off the connector which comes with this unit and splice the wires into the reverse light wires on the vehicle. Complete instructions provided in the manual.
