Mine is removable, but I store the handle in situ (in place). If you are jacking up a truck, this is the most appropriate jack.

The handle can be removed. There is a cotter pin that holds the handle on and can be pulled off to remove the handle.

I want to use this jack to do maintenance on my lawn tractor. Will it remain stable when lifted and I am working underneath?
-
DCP123· 13 years ago
You should really never work under anything that is supported only by a jack. That applies to any jack I've ever heard of. If you need to go under a vehicle, you need jack stands or some other form of more stable support.

This is a jack, and Should Never be used to work underneath anything. Use jack stands! once lifted. Good luck

This is a jack that has a large rigid base adding to the stability. A better choice for added security would be Northern's Lawn Tractor Lift, our item # 174889.

can I lift concrete slab?
The concrete slab on the side walk has gone down 4 inches on one side, (4' x 6'). Will I be able to lift it with this to make it even?
-
OldOldFarmer· 10 years ago
To lift anything with a jack, any jack, you have to get the jack under it. How are you going to get a jack underneath a concrete slab? And, concrete is strong only under compression, but if you try to lift concrete in any given spot, it will likely crack and break. This jack will lift a ton or more. It will lift the end of a truck, but most trucks have strong frames and bumpers. It's not the jack you need to worry about, rather the material you want to lift and how to grab onto that material.

The Hi-Lift All Purpose Mechanical Jack would not be recommended to lift a concrete slab. The possibility of the slab cracking or breaking is high.

How do I release the jack to come down?
1 answer-
ProductExpert37· 3 years ago
1. Position the jack under the raised load and raise the stationary load (see Raising a Stationary Load). 2. Remove blocks from under the load. 3. Be sure the handle is in the upright position clipped to the steel standard bar before lowering the load. 4. Move the reversing latch to the down position. 5. Grasp the handle firmly with both hands. Carefully pump the handle up and down to lower the load. 6. The load will be lowered on each up stroke of the handle (refer to Binding if the jack binds). Additional operation instructions can be found in the product manual underneath the product summary.

what is the difference between rated and tested load?
1 answer-
ProductExpert38· 5 years ago
The manufacturer shows the tested load as the max weight the jack can withstand, but only warranties the product for use at the rated limit of 4660 lbs.
