    1. Yes, it will operate anytime power is supplied.

    2. This unit will work anytime it is plugged in. Ultraviolet or "black light" is invisible to the eye, and its ability to attract insects diminishes over time. The longer the light is on the faster this will happen. The light should only be turned on when needed.
