Product Summary

Constructed of heavy-gauge steel with tough, appliance-like finish. Replaceable air/water separator prevents corrosion and bacterial growth — in compliance with FDA regulations. Tank is factory pre-charged to 40 PSI.

Pre-charged tanks are rated to compare with equivalent-size conventional (standard) tanks in terms of water draw down between pump cycles. The actual physical size of a pre-charged tank is much less and allows space savings up to 50% when comparing drawdown and size to that of a conventional tank. Economy is achieved with the smaller size of pre-charged tanks compared to similar water delivery and size of conventional tanks. This tank has a rated size of 82 gallons; the actual tank capacity is 35 gallons. U.S.A.

    1. This precharged water system tank does not have a place or plate for mounting a jet pump directly on the tank.

    1. May we suggest contacting our parts department at 800-222-5381 option 3 for the replacement bladder for the tank. The parts number for this bladder is SRU20-9. For instructions on replacement of this bladder, may we suggest contacting the manufacturer.

    1. The bigger the tank you have the larger the drawdown (actual amount of water stored) you will have. A larger drawdown means longer run time and therefore less cycles. Most manufacturers recommend a minimum run time of one minute for efficient motor cooling. One horsepower and larger pumps require longer run times.

      To determine the proper size of the pressure tank, there are three factors to consider:
      1. Pump flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM)
      2. Desired run time of the pump
      3. Cut-in and cut-out psi (pounds per square inch) of the pressure switch. The pump turns on when the system reaches the low pressure cut-in and off when the high pressure cut-in is reached.

      Tank drawdown capacity is the minimum amount of water stored and/or delivered by the pressure tank between pump shut-off and pump re-start. This should not be confused with “tank volume.” For example, a pre-charged tank with a tank volume of 20 gallons has only five to seven gallons drawdown capacity depending on the cut-in / cut-out (on/off) setting of the pressure switch. Pumps with flow rates up to 10 GPM should have a tank with a minimum of one gallon drawdown capacity for each GPM delivered by the pump.

      From these factors you will be able to determine the drawdown needed with the following equation:

      Tank drawdown capacity required = Pump flow rate multiplied by run time.
