Stay Informed, Stay Secure
Chamberlain's Wireless Motion Alert sensors monitor critical areas of your property. When a vehicle or person passes within 30 feet of the sensor, it will trigger an alert on the base monitor. This monitor can be located up to 1/2 mile away from the sensor, giving you an enormous range of coverage! The base unit is portable, so it can always be close at hand.
Easy To Install
Power Up The Components
Each sensor will run for up to two years on a set of 4 AA batteries, so there's no need to have electrical power at each sensor site. The base station can run on standard electrical power using the provided DC adapter, or will use AA batteries when you're out and about.
Link The Sensors To The Base
One button press is all you need to link the sensor to the base units. Each sensor has a unique sound and light flash pattern on the base unit, so you'll always know which sensor has been triggered.
Mount The Sensors
With four sensors, you can cover critical areas of your property such as the driveway entrance, garage and shed doors, and home entry points. One sensor is included; three more sensors can be added to monitor additional areas.

Will this model detect other objects like deer, dogs, cats, racoons etc? I live in a country setting, I see it detects people and vehicles. Thank you

The sensor will detect anything that passes in front of it. There is an option to adjust the sensitivity to help avoid "false alarms" from wildlife and pets.

You can adjust the sensor sensitivity and height off of the ground.
Mine is adjusted so that I am picking up only people and vehicles.Helpful?

I live in the country also. Yes the unit will pick up everything. However if installed as recomened and adjusted for your needs it works well with very few false alarms.

This model will detect people, animals and vehicles, so it is wise to mount it higher than a large dog, thats it.

I would say it depends on how low you install the sensor, the higher off the ground the less likely to sense the animals

Do all 4 sensors sound the same at the receiver ?
-
TheDeerHunter· 10 years ago
You count the beeps to know what sensor is going off. You can add up to 8 sensors to one receiver. I've got them set up all around my property watching for deer. My Wife hates it as I keep it in the bedroom in the Fall. I just smile as I count the beeps. LOL

No, each has it's own unique signal so you know which one was activated, the first has one long tone, the second has two tones , the third has three tones and so on. The base unit reciever volume is adjustable and full volume is pretty loud

When additional sensors are added, they will sound with more beeps. Example, the first sensor will beep once, the second sensor will beep twice, and so on.

What is the best angle to place on the driveway? Perpendicular or on an angle?
-
Davehd2009· 11 years ago
Per the instructions, it should be angled towards the driveway. Also, it doesn't do very well on approaching targets, or targets that are moving quickly. I can, actually drive past it fast enough on approaching that it will not go off. On departing targets, it does better due to the longer exposure time.

Helpful?
-
Metwo1· 11 years ago
The instructions suggest the sensor be pointed so it senses the rear of the vehicle, so I have mine at an angle.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert12· 11 years ago
The Chamberlain Alert System will work best at a perpendicular mounting.
Helpful?
-
TheChamberlainTeam· 11 years ago
Hello, and thank you for your question. An angled alignment may provide earlier detection for you, but keep in mind that street traffic passing by, if in the "view" of the sensor, may cause false alarms.

What's the average battery life in the transmitter?
-
Timon27· 10 years ago
All 3 of my sensor batteries have lasted over 12 months, through rather tough weather conditions - lots of snow & rain.
Helpful?
-
Lonetex· 11 years ago
The specs say up to 2 years, but this would be reduced depending how often it is triggered. The manual suggests the batteries be replaced annually and that is good advice. In any case, the unit will alarm when the batteries get low. The best time to replace them is in the late fall will temps start to drop so you will have fresh batteries to compensate for the effects of the cold.

The transmitter uses 4 AA batteries and they can last up to 2 years before replacing. Chamberlain recommends using lithium batteries in colder environments to improve battery life expectancy.

Will the device transmit through obstructions such as trees and or bushes?
-
Timon27· 10 years ago
One of my sensors is about 200' away from home. Detection does come through fine with small trees, some bushes and a 5' wood pile. The other sensor is about 250' away & detection is picked around curved driveway up past my garage in heavily wooded area.

Range?
Is the 1/2 mile range clear line of sight? If so how much distance would be lost if trees and small hills were between the transmitter and receiver. I have a 2000 ft driveway that starts 125 ft below the home site.
-
Smallrancher· 11 years ago
I get about a quarter mile through trees and small hills.
Helpful?
-
45Bullet· 11 years ago
The range is rated at clear-line-of-site. If your receiver in the house is at a higher elevation than the transmitter, it is possible that some waves could be bounced, or reflected so it might work even if you have hills in between...only way to find out is experiment

-
TheChamberlainTeam· 11 years ago
Hello hd162, and thank you for your question. The range ("up to 1/2 mile") quoted in the description is under optimal conditions, with clear line of sight between the sensor unit and the base station. Hills, trees, and similar obstructions will decrease the range, of course, but the amount is impossible to predict without bringing the product to the location and performing a test. However, since the driveway begins at a point lower than the home site, please be aware that the lower elevation of the transmitter (sensor) will have a noticeable negative effect on the overall range of the system.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert30· 11 years ago
The 1/2 mile range is a clear line of sight. Hills, trees and power lines will shorten the distance. There is not a set distance that it reduces the range with obstructions. You would adjust the transmitter position closer to the receiver so it would work for your terrain.

If more than one sensor is set to the base unit will it tell me which sensor was tripped so I can focus my attention there and not waste time looking in the wrong direction.
