  1. Can this be used in a blast cabinet?

    I have a 40 lb. blast cabinet.

    1. Yes! Works great in a cabinet! Not quite as abrasive as glass beads but leaves a smoother finish. Wire brush or scotch rite pads on die grinder and it will produce “shiny” surface.

  2. Would this be good for blasting cast aluminum parts, If not, what would be?

    1. yes but you must use low presure  and depends on alloy hardness . you can never get a shiny surface without buffing. Finish with used glass beads still must be buffed for a shine

    2. I would not recommend this product for blasting aluminum. Please see the recommended item below for a good blasting media for aluminum.

  3. Is this product good for blasting old cast iron pot belly stoves

    1. I recently used it on cast iron exhaust manifolds for a ‘67 GTO that had extreme surface rust. The product easily blew out the interior scale from the manifolds making them almost polished by comparison. After blasting and a coat of high temp paint the manifolds looked like new. It should do well on a cast iron pot bellystove.

    2. This abrasive is fast cutting and economical. It provides a high degree of etch for surface preparation and coating adhesion. An excellent choice for a cast iron stove.

  4. how smooth is the finish on steel after blasting with this?

    i want to spray paint a bicycle frame with oil base primer and enamel afterwards.

    1. Great for taking epoxy primer paint and super for welding.

    2. The blasting will cause 1/2 to 2 mil pits so it will not be smooth.

    1. The material is not water soluble. It is made from coal slag. I would worry more about the material that you blast off than this media.
