Ratchet Wrenches
Traditional manual wrenches have one open end, allowing it to slide onto the fastener from a side. These are likely to slip off the fastener. Socket wrenches enclose the fastener, gripping at all points of contact. The most common type of wrench with a ratchet handle is a socket wrench. If you need to work fast or/in a tight space, the ratcheting characteristic limits movement to one direction, letting you twist the fastener without repositioning the socket, saving time and effort. Typically, a socket set will have 1 ratchet handle and that handle can be used with all the sockets by a square nub at one end of the handle that fits into the “back” of the socket. When it’s time to switch between loosening and fastening, flip the directional thingy on the ratchet handle reversing the directional restriction, it feels like the old school version of switching a drill’s direction. Power Ratchets and specifically Cordless ratchets are commonly used in the automobile repair industry to remove fasteners on the go and in hard-to-reach spots. We carry lots of types of sockets that can be attached to a ratchet. Including SAE, Metric sockets, Torx screws and impact sockets for use with impact wrenches.
The basic socket is hexagonal, a "6-point" ring with pointed intersections where the solid sides meet. Torque above 600lb./ft.) will involve power assist because simply pushing on the handle of a wrench won’t do it. Impact tools are just the thing! Let’s break this down. The ratchet is the pivoting handle attached to a socket wrench, torque wrench, or other types of wrenches. It restricts movement to 1 direction at a time. A ratchet is technically a wrench. As a wrench, it is used on fasteners. Ratchets are unique from other wrenches because the handle can be repositioned without letting go of the fastener.
