Tire Inflation Cages
A tire inflation cage is a safety structure designed to protect workers while inflating large truck, bus, or heavy-equipment tires. Because these tires are under extremely high pressure, a blowout during inflation would cause serious injury or death. The cages are built from thick, reinforced steel bars that can contain flying debris or absorb the force of a sudden tire failure.
Placing the tire inside the cage and standing clear during inflation, operators reduce the risk of accidents while still being able to monitor the air pressure. Tire inflation cages should be used in all fleet maintenance facilities, and tire service centers where large pneumatic tires are routinely handled.
